Clare ran through the forest as fresh tears stung her eyes, blurring her vision. She wished she could go home, to see her brother and give him one last hug, but she knew she no longer could. The town she had lived in, known, and loved, for fifteen years had been burned down to the grounds in a matter of hours. Everyone who had lived there was either burned to death or were slaughtered by the demons. Clare was the only one who had survived. When she was far enough from the village, she stopped running to catch her breath and try and calm down. She sat down, looking up at the sky, glowing a bright shade of red in the direction of her village. Once she stopped crying, which took a while, she stood and turned to leave. Clare was about to start walking, when she heard a low growl from behind her. She turned to see a pair of red, glowing eyes behind her. clare slowly backed away, as the creature walked towards her. when it stepped into a patch of moonlight, Clare gasped as she clearly saw what the creature looked like. It's head and torso looked like that of a wolves, and its body looked like the body of a lizard with long, six inch claws, a long monkey like tail, and two long horns on top of its head.
The creature stood on its hind legs, hunched over slightly. Letting out another growl it charged at clare. clare ran away, her eyes wide with fear as the creature slowly gained on her. clare tripped as she ran and rolled onto her back to see the creature pounce on her. Its long claws dug into her side, giving her deep cuts.
Clare yelped in pain as blood flowed freely, staining her clothes red. The creature choked out a strange noise that sounded almost like it was laughing, as it wrapped its large clawed hand around Claire's neck, taking pleasure in suffocating her. Her lungs screamed for oxygen as Clare began blacking out. When her body went limp, finally giving up trying to get away, the creature dropped clare and howled in pain. Clare woke up long enough to see a long blade sticking out from the creature's chest before she finally allowed darkness to take her.
Clare gasped as she woke up in a cold sweat. Looking around, she saw that she was no longer in a forest, but was in a comfy bed with white silk sheets. The room she was in was large with simple white walls. Sunlight streamed in through big square windows. The windows were open, allowing a gentle breeze to flow into her room.
Clare sat up and looked out the window to see a simple town with many houses. Some were made of wood while others were made of stone. She looked away when she heard the handle of the door turn before to door creaked open. Looking in the direction of the door, clare saw a young woman with black hair and blue eyes walk in. The woman was holding a vase of white and red roses. She smiled when she saw clare awake. "Oh, you finally woke up!" She exclaimed happily. "Me and my brother were worried about you, after all, you've been asleep for almost two months." She said as she set down the roses on Clare's bedside table. "Oh, where are my manners. My name is melody. It's nice to meet you."
Clare looked up at melody, slightly nervous about talking to her, but she seemed friendly enough. "M-my name is clare." She replied, slightly surprised at how she sounded. Her voice was a bit scratchy and her throat was dry. 'I guess that's what happens when you haven't had water in almost two months.' Clare thought to herself.
Melody nodded. "You must be hungry. I'll be right back with some food, wait for just a moment." She said as she ran out of the room quickly. When she returned she had a plate full of food and a glass of water. "Here, eat up." She said, handing the plate to Clare, who gratefully took the plate of food.
"T-thank you," Clare said once she drank the glass of water "but where am I?" melody smiled. "Your and my house. My brother saved you from that demon and brought you here, and a friend of mine healed you." Clare nodded and gave the best smile she could, though it wasn't a happy smile. Her smile showed sadness. Melody looked at clare, confused. "What wrong? Why do you look so sad?" she asked, a sympathetic smile on her face. Clare shook her head. "Its nothing important."
Melody sighed and shook her head before giving clare a small sad smile. "Your from that village that burned down two months ago, aren't you?" She asked softly, her voice filled with empathy. Clare simply nodded. "I'm scared." She said quietly. "Everyone's gone and I feel like I have nothing else left to live for."
"Then how about you live for all those who died?" Melody suggested. Clare looked up at melody, slightly shocked at her answer. "I never thought of it that way. But, thank you. I feel a little bit better." Clare said, giving a small smile.
"Your welcome." Melody replied as she stood up. "I have to go, but if you need anything else, just call for me." She said before walking out of the room, to allow Clare to eat her food in peace.
