The Guardians of the Galaxy were gathered in the common room of their ship the Milano. The mysterious stowaway Magus had left them with questions they needed answered. He seemed to be a magician of sorts, according to Groot. He sat on Rocket's workbench and held the broken halves of Gamora's sword in his hand.
"What are you?" Gamora asked. "I've never seen anyone like you."
"My sister and I are the only ones of our kind. I am an artificial construct formed by cosmic energy. It is the power that grants me gifts to help others."
"And why are you here?" Quill asked.
"As powerful as I am, there are objectives that even I cannot complete successfully. I wish to return to the world of my creation, yet I have lost my way."
"What?"
"He's saying he's doesn't know how to get back," Rocket translated.
"If you can give us coordinates or at least a name, I'm sure we can return you to where ever you came from."
Magus walked up to a portside observation window. "I came from a world beyond the notice of any sentient being. I speak of the planet Halfworld."
Rocket's eyes widened with surprise, but his expression changed to boiling rage. "Oh flark no! I am not going back to that krutackin' mudball!" He stormed off and locked himself in his room.
Gamora and Groot looked at Quill. He sighed and went to Rocket's door, where he knocked and asked, "Rocket, do you wanna talk."
"Ain't nothing to talk about!"
"Come on, Rocket. It's obvious something is wrong?"
"It's none of your business."
"Fine. We'll just land and you can pout in your room."
"NO! I can't go to Halfworld!"
"Why?"
Rocket opened to door to his room. He had his head low and seemed saddened. "Fine. Halfworld was my home long ago until I escaped." His tone was soft.
Quill's expression softened. "Rocket..."
"I can't go back. When this ship lands, the flarkin' monster that... that made me would know I'm there and would take me back by force."
"Fine. How about you, Groot, and Drax can take the space pod to Nekrano while Gamora and I take Magus to Halfworld."
"Fine, but make sure he pays a LOT. No one should have to go to that world."
Magus had snuck in on them. "I can pay you whatever you wish. Money was no object."
Peter was surprised by his appearance. "Oh, alright."
When Magus waved his hand over an apple. It turned into units before their eyes. Rocket quickly confirmed their authenticity.
"I can give you more than you can imagine once we arrive."
The Guardians agreed on the deal. Rocket, Groot, and Drax got in the space pod to fly to Nekrano. Meanwhile, the Milano flew to Halfworld. It was a beautiful world covered in a vast forest. With Magus's guidance, they located a walled city that looked to be from Earth's medieval age, including a castle. They landed outside the city walls.
"What the heck is this?" Quill asked.
"My creator worked on many projects, including forming a civilization of evolved creatures," Magus explained. "He calls it Wundagore. They've progressed much since I was here last. "
"Is that where you're going?"
"No, I have business away from here. Your payment can be found in the cargo bay. It was a pleasure, Guardians of the Galaxy." Magus then made his departure from the Milano.
