Toby’s POV-

I was pacing the living room again. Gryphon sat on the couch net to Jack and Sean, both of whom looked as tortured by anticipation as I felt. We were waiting for the phone call from Olga to tell us why Whitney was so pissed off at me. It was crazy to think that it was only yesterday that I had met her and now I was pacing the room hoping that Olga would just freaking call to tell me that she had Whitney and everything was ok.

“What did I say?” I asked aloud after a while. Jack and Sean gave me curious looks.

“What do you mean man?” Jack ventured.

“I mean, I don’t think I said anything to offend, yet she blew up at me. She screamed at me and started crying then just walked away. I just…” I stopped mid-sentence. I didn’t know where I was going with this because I still didn’t know what was wrong. I knotted my fingers in my hair and groaned in frustration.

“Well, what did you say to her just before she got all upset?” Sean prodded. I wracked my brain to try and remember. The whole ordeal seemed so long ago.

“I think I asked her what was wrong cause she looked upset. She denied it and it escalated from there.” I explained, checking the facts in my head to make sure that was what had happened.

“Okay-… what made you ask her why she was upset?” I thought harder.

“She had gotten this really sad look on her face and I wanted to know why.” I thought farther back into the foggy memory of this morning.

“Did you say something that caused the look?” Sean’s questioning was starting to get on my nerves but I knew he was just trying to help me.

“She had asked if she could hang by be at VidCon the rest of the day and I said yes but told her that if she didn’t want to she didn’t have to and could leave at any time.” I explained further.

“Dude, I think she thought you were trying to dismiss her.” Jack said suddenly. He hadn’t talked much since he had gotten here but it was weird to hear him say something that didn’t have a punch line at the end.

            “What do you mean?”

“Well, she must’ve taken the way you said that as sure you can hang out but only for a little bit cause I’m too busy for you. Like she was just another fangirl.” I stared, dumbfounded, at Jack. I had never thought of it that way before.

“So…what you’re saying is that it’s all my fault?” I asked for clarification. Sean and Jack nodded slowly. I really wanted to punch something.

It had been my dumb fault all along. That was why that other time I had offered to bring her back to her hotel she had gotten all flustered. She must’ve thought the same thing as this morning. I hadn’t meant for her to think I was pushing her away.

“How could I have been so stupid?” I asked myself.

Whitney’s POV-

Olga gave me a weird look. I don’t think she had expected to come out with it that easily. I looked down and awkwardly took another bite of cookie dough.

“You have known him for a day, how could you be in love with him?” she asked skeptically. Quite frankly, I didn’t even know.
