A/N: I'm going to go through 1 or 2 cannon events from the show in this chapter, because they are important to the story, but the next chapter will have my own story in it.
This first scene takes place after the events of Episode 9 (aka after the race between Cherry and Adam).

___"What do you think happened with Reki?" Kaoru whispered mindlessly to himself, not even realizing he spoke aloud, or that his husband had heard him.
Kaoru had been absorbed in a silent staring contest with the ceiling for a very, very long time; causing the atmosphere of the room to be eerily quiet. Which felt unnatrually strange, considering they currently found themselves in a hospital room. Though Kojiro believed his husband had been more fascinated with his own thoughts then the actually ceiling, as his eyes had been glossed over and he probably hadn't even noticed the presents of said ceiling being above him to begin with.
"I don't know," Kojiro admitted, he squeezed his beloveds hand to see if he was actually listening to him, not really sure if the injured man was still stuck in his previous trance or not. When Kaoru's eyebrows furrowed as a response to the pressure, Kojiro figured he was free to continue. "Miya seems to think him and Langa got into a fight or something."
"That could explain why Langa seemed so out of it when he skated against you."
"Yeah, I don't think I had ever seen the boy so unmotivated like that before. It was certainly something else. Strange even."
"True to that." Kaoru finally tilted his head down to stare at his husband with narrowed eyes, only to burst out laughing a few seconds later. "He still beat you though."
"Must I remind you that you lost your last skating match too?!"
"Please don't! My aching body does a great job of reminding me already!"
"God your such an idiot!"
"Says you, you stupid gorilla!"
The room went dead silent again. At least, only until Kaoru layed his heavy head back onto the pillows behind him, resuming his mindless staring contest again. "I don't think that's it though."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't think it was just a fight between him and Langa. Something else must have happened to Reki as well. I'm sure of it."
"Agreed." Kojiro sighs. "When I saw him a few days ago, he looked like someone tried to beat him up. And it definitely wasn't Langa. I'm worried about him, you know?"
Kaoru took what felt like forever to respond. But eventually he said: "I know. . . I care about him too. . ."

A/N: This next scene goes back in time to only about a week earlier and takes place during episode 7 (just before Reki and Langa's fight).
___The entire Kyan family couldn't help but notice how strange Reki had been acting for the past week. The boy just didn't seem like himself anymore. He'd been a lot less energetic then usual and he spent most of his time staring off into space. His eyebrows were constantly furrowed in anguish and his lips were formed into a permanent scowl. Reki's body may have been motionlessly present in the room, but it was just a hollowed out shell of a vessel. His spirt was gone. Now he just seemed like a half dead ghost. In fact the perfect word to describe him would be: Depressed.
His family were hoping he would snap out of it eventually. So they tried to leave him be, and let him figure out his teenage feelings by himself. But that hadn't seem to happen yet, which begun to really worry them.
