dazzling plans

It was a few days after their proposal, Erin and Kelce were on a tennis date.

They hadn't talked much since Erin said yes, and things were weird between them. Both knew it but nobody dared to mention it.

The couple had played a few rounds, now sat on the sun-heated floor and shared a beer.
Kelce closed his eyes, face turned to the sun and small drops of sweat glistening on his skin.

Everything was perfect, the way it should be.
Erin was good at pretending she never had to flee from Ward Camerons car and even Rafe stopped texting her at some point.

Secretly, Erin missed waking up to some random blurry dickpic or drunk texts about him getting in trouble, telling her how he fought some dude at a bar, how he won of course, stuff like that.

Now, all she got were links to Pinterest posts about dresses, wedding venues and if Erin had to read the word dazzling one more time she might have to end it all.

The cool beer in her dry throat felt good, Erin wiped the corners of her mouth and glanced at her fiancé.

"Hey, Kelce"

"Huh?"

"Why did you want to get these pills from Barry?"

He opened his eyes and looked at her, hand shielding his face from the sun. "What are you talking about?"

"Rafe told me you tried to buy from Barry, the day I overdosed."

Of course, Erin didn't mention that said pills were the ones she ended up overdosing on.

"I, uhh-"

Kelce scratched the back of his head and sat up straight, grabbing his racket.

"Kelce"

"Do we have to talk about this now?"

Erins eyebrows drew together. "Uh. Yeah? I mean I don't want to marry an addict, you know?", she scoffed.
Gaslighting at its finest.

Kelce sighed.
"I wanted to feel like you did when - you know, you were using. I wanted to understand you better."

The taunting attitude Erin had put on faded, she swallowed and licked her lips. "Oh"

"Yeah, I know it's kind of stupid."

Erin shook her head, genuinely touched by Kelces innocence.
"No. It's not", she mumbled and smiled with sad eyes.

Barry looked up as he heard the familiar sound of Rafes bike approaching his trailer.

"Nah. If you're just gonna keep on whining again leave, Bro", he slurred instead of a greeting when Rafe stepped in front of him.

Barry spent the last few days with Rafe, getting high and listening to him crying about Erin and Kelce.
Rafe could be very persistent, and every time Barry tried to change the subject the kook managed to steer it back to his lovesick jabbering.

Even Barry was sick of it at some point and stopped engaging in conversations, leaving Rafe in ranting monologues.

The night before, the dealer kicked him out, told him to go home and sort his issues out before coming back.

"You hear me whining?"

"Not yet"

"I have a plan"
