I tug at the bottom of my shirt, my books balanced precariously in one arm. My class mates had already left and I knew I was going to be late for potions. Did I care? Not exactly. First day back, how harsh could Snape actually be?

I speed walk to class, occasionally pausing to hide from teachers who were on the look out for students skipping class. I see the door to potions, and I sprint to it, stopping just in time to catch my breath before making a grand entrance. I swing the door open, the horrified look on Hermione's face forever etched into my mind.

"Ms Diggory, how nice of you to join us. Why don't you take a seat next to Mr Malfoy?" Professor Snape drawls.

I take my seat next to Malfoy quietly. "Howdy." I greet Draco, pretending to tip a nonexistent hat towards him. I see the grin he tries to hide. "G'day Diggory." he whispers back. Draco and I had this love-hate relationship. Some days we could be friends, other days we wanted to stab each other in the spleen, today obviously being a good day.

I focus my attention on the board. Today was all a lecture on potion safety, and to be honest, I thought it was pointless considering we had this discussion last year. How utterly useless you must be if you can't remember the basic rules, like come on, its just common sense most of the time.

Snape continues to speak in that droning tone, that he's obviously mastered over the past years. His cold heart must really affect his vocal cords. I want to sob of boredom by the end of class. As I gather my things, Draco waves goodbye and I attempt to return the gesture, but fail, and drop all my books in the process.

"I got it," I say as a kind hand tries to help me.

"Vi, I've got this."

I look up. "FRED! What are you doing here?!"

He laughs gently. "I came to see if Ron was in here, but I guess I got you instead!"

"Thanks!" I say as he places my last book on the stack. I pick it up, and together we walk to the common room.

He hugs me briefly as he returns to his twin. I attempt to find Ginny in the scores of students before I spot her snogging Dean Thomas. Not a cute guy in my opinion, and his personality isn't they great, but each to their own I guess.

I begin to study, my mind filling the paper with seemingly useless words, but somehow they create something so magical. If only Muggles knew what we could do.

Before long, I succumb to sleep, and return to my dormitory, to be greeted with a snoring Hermione. Soft snoring, none of that pig like stuff Ron does. I move her books and cover her in a blanket, before crawling into my own bed and falling asleep.
