15. The Call of "He"

This looks... Surreal! Clear blue skies, crystal clear water, and beautiful blossoms on trees. Is this even the Esse-ver? Lino was standing beside me, he didn't look as convinced or in awe as me. However, I saw two mid-sized well-rounded hills on two completely opposite sides, each about 2 miles apart.

Someone just appeared right in front of me, disappeared right after, and appeared behind me once again. Lino dragged me off to the other side, little did we know that she was holding a knife ready to strike me down.

"Seriously fast reflexes from this young man over there! Fast critical thinking for this young woman as well! Impressive! I'm liking these contestants! You all could have a fantastic time!"

Before she could say anything else, I quickly interrupted her saying, "You seem like an overseer of this branch or... Activity. Who are you though? What's the activity?"

"Right! I always get to introduce myself. I'm "He", pleased to meet you. As for the activities, I'll be giving— We'll get to that later. However, you can ask the guy beside you, he seems to have a solid idea of what it'll be."

"Lino? What do you think about the activity?"

"Me? I have no clue. You actually believed what she said?" He expressed amusement afterwards through a small laugh.

"Exactly! A word of advice, don't believe everything that comes out of my mouth."

I was embarrassed for some reason. I didn't realize how much a trickster this overseer can actually be. This is so stupid... I feel stupid. No time for that right now, I want to get out of this thing!

"Hey, 'He', could you explain the rules now? We'd like to get out of this place, asap."

"Don't rush me. Take your time cause... You don't know when these thrilling adventures will stop."

... I reflected upon that simple yet saddening idea. Why was I slightly disappointed though? Don't I want to leave this place for good and return to Earth? I'm weird, as in, weird. Take my time? Yeah, I'll try that. However, I'm sticking to leaving as originally planned. I'm not letting simple words sway my motives.

"Okay! Time to explain the rules by yours truly!" 'He' snapped his... her— fingers, there came in two men who looked really strong. What could their purpose be?

"Now, time to give it to you for real. See those two hills over there? Yeah, we'll be playing Capture the Flag but... With a twist! Know the game called Laser Tag? It'll be included while doing the main objective. Now, all you guys have to do is capture the flag of the opposing team and put it over to your base! As for the Laser Tag, you'll be given those beautiful guns! Point it at your opponent and shoot! It'll stop them from doing anything for 40 seconds. Another catch! This'll be performed in daylight to make it a tad bit harder."

I couldn't help but say, "I— What kind of game is this?! You're serious about this, like, real serious?!"

"Of course! Why would I joke around?"

"Well, what happens when one side loses?"

"A good ol' fashioned drop into the void between Dimension Z-008 and another one, that's all!"

"How... Assuring. Thanks a lot."

"You're welcome! Please, get these laser guns used for the activity. It will start once both teams are on each side."
