That was sixth months ago. Now? I've been asked to go back to visit said Hydra base.
Although I'm putting on a brave front for my team, I am freaking out.
I think Thor is the only one who knows absolutely everything that happened there; I described to him in detail how awful it felt to see and unknown bubbling liquid flowing through wires and into your body. He had known I wouldn't want to tell Tony that, but that I would still need to get it off my chest. To say he's from Asgard... he's definitely improved from when he first landed on Earth in terms of his understanding of the people who live here.
I was in my room, getting dressed. I didn't have a suit as such to put on, but it wasn't a uniform like Tasha's. No. I had something much more casual.
I wiggled into my skinny jeans, and threw one of our Avengers t-shirts on; then I brushed my hair through and let it fall freely, before I threw on a black S.H.I.E.L.D. jacket.
I was about to walk out into the corridor when I heard a knock on my already open door. I glanced over and there stood Thor, cape flowing behind him, bits of his hair tied back (a style that I had suggested), and hammer in hand.
"Hey," I muttered, not as enthusiastic as everyone else about the mission for obvious reasons.
"Breanna, are you sure you want to go through with this?" he asked, eyebrows furrowed in concern as he, as usual, got straight to the point.
I hesitated, but eventually nodded.
"If I don't go back there and take something from them, like they did me, that place will haunt me forever," I stated, looking at the floor, before glancing up at Thor and continuing, "They took my normality Thor. It's the least I can do to take that bloody sceptre back from them."
Thor smiled softly at my reasoning before stepping out of the doorway, and gesturing for me to go first.
I murmured my thanks as I locked my door and we continued towards the airstrip together.
Suddenly, he started laughing. It started out as a deep chuckled, but soon turned into his usual booming laugh.
"What's so funny?" I asked, not being able to help my smile as we neared the other Avengers.
"I admire your courage and will, young Stark, and I have just now come to realise that with your healing powers, you could now fairly beat your brother in a fight... It was an amusing picture," he declared, and as an image of what that would look like proceeded to enter my head, I couldn't help but giggle along with him.
With the fast jet, it didn't take us too long to land in Sokovia, a small country in Eastern Europe.
Almost as soon as the plane touched the ground, everyone filed off, and Steve explained the plan.
"Tony, you're going to be the one to infiltrate the base and take the sceptre, because you'll get to grips with their technology faster. Everyone else; just take out as many Hydra soldiers as you can see," he spat, and I grimaced at the hatred Steve must carry for the Hydra after everything.
Everyone nodded and we headed off.
Running through the forest, I could feel the wind flowing through my hair as I did so, getting my run up. It wasn't necessary of course, but I preferred it that way.
Taking off, I looked around me briefly. Clint and Tasha were running through the trees, guns at the ready in one case, and bow and arrows ready in the other. Steve was also running, shield strapped to his back for use at any moment, and Bruce had already transformed into the other guy, and was rampaging through the trees, knocking down and uprooting those in his way. Thor, Tony and I were airborne; Thor was using his lightning to propel him forward, while Tony used his blasters and I used my powers.
