Friday, September 2

Math just flew by. They didn't even do actual math, they just got settled in to class and found out our locker numbers, and went to the office.

*Forty minutes prior.*

"five, eight, three. Five, eight, three." Bluey thought to herself attempting to remember her locker number.

Mackenzie looked over at her.

Bluey could tell he was watching so she immediately looked at him but then quickly looked over his shoulder and turned to ask; "Is Jack ok, he's crying in the corner over there". "I should probably go talk to him" Mackenzie said as he stood up from his chair and went to go comfort Jack. Bluey followed him and Mackenzie looked at her with a remorseful look in his eyes as if to say "We should stay here for a few minutes and talk to him." "Hey Jack, what happened? Why are you crying?" Bluey questioned Jack with a soothing tone.  "Yeah, you haven't exactly been yourself lately, not since the incident with Rusty." Mackenzie expressed sounding a bit melancholy for his friend. "What?!" Bluey exclaimed.Mackenzie put his finger on top of his mouth as if to signal, "be quiet, we'll talk about it later".

"I just don't know what happened anymore, I don't know what happened then and now I don't know what just happened now" Jack whispered trying to fight his tears. He was shaking and breathing as if he had just run a marathon, Jack was most likely having a panic attack! He felt himself going back in time and reliving the painful memory;

*FLASHBACK*

"What are you looking at Jack" Rusty growled. "Nothing" Jack sighed and looked away from him. "Look Jack, stop trying to make me feel sorry for you. It's never going to happen, and do you know why? BECAUSE YOUR SO NEEDY JACK I'M SICK OF IT. YOU JUST THINK YOU CAN GUILT TRIP ME INTO BEING FRIENDS WITH YOUR NEEDINESS. WELL, I AIN'T YOUR SERVANT MATE. GET LOST" Rusty snapped as he punched his former best friend in the face making him bleed. Jack froze. He couldn't believe his best friend he had ever was saying these nasty things to him and had punched him in the face.  "Look, Rusty" Jack tried to explain. "Shut up Jack, if I hear another word come out of your pathetic mouth, I'll break your jaw." Rusty snarled. Rusty growled and Jack backed away. Jack's former best friend was turning into an animal. He wiped the blood from his eye and sniffled. "What did I do to deserve this, Rusty?" Jack muttered under his breath as he walked into the corner of the class to sulk.

*END FLASHBACK*

He heard Bluey and Mackenzie calling out his name, he snapped back to reality and back to the aftermath.

Just as Mackenzie and Bluey started to rub his back Mrs. Shepherd walked in with the principal. She was a tall thin Greyhound with a neat grey coat and piercings on her ears. She noticed Jack crying in the corner and went to go see what the matter was while Mrs. Shepherd followed.

"Hello there, are you alright" the principal asked in a sweet comforting tone.

Mrs. Shepherd noticed Jacks bleeding eye and left to go get medical supplies from a cabinet a few desks away. She returned with the medical kit and told Jack to follow her to the office so they could talk alone. "Actually Nancy, maybe you should take care of your class and these three can follow me to the office and we'll fix up his eye and talk." The Greyhound explained. Mrs. Shepherd gave her a thumbs up and they were out the door the very same minute. "Oh, you might want this still" Mrs. Shepherd said as she handed a folder to her. "Yes, I suppose that would be helpful." The Greyhound laughed.

Mackenzie gulped, going to the office on the first day of school even though he didn't do anything wrong still seemed nerve racking to him. "Bluey, do you think there's anything to worry about, I mean why did she ask us to come too?" Mackenzie remarked seeming a little panicked.  "I don't know" Bluey was shaking.
