Sunday, December 31

The entire Heeler family had gathered at the house on top of the hill to ring in the new year, including Chilli's family.

"Hey kids!" Brandy cheered as Chilli opened for her and Mort. "Hey Chilli Dog, hey Bluey, hey Bingo, G'day Bandit!" Mort smiled as he stepped inside. The two dogs hugged Chilli, then the kids and then Bandit. "Come on in we have all the refreshments in the dining room and the count down is in the living room." Chilli invited as Mort and Brandy wiped their feet. Brandy stopped for a minute to turn to Bingo and Bluey, "hey, sorry I wasn't able to come for Christmas but here are some belated gifts for you two." Brandy said kindly as she passed each of the girls a gift bag with brightly colored wrapping paper. "Thanks Aunt Brandy!" The girls exclaimed in unison as they ran up to their bedroom. They removed the paper from the bags and then proceeded to feel for the things inside. Bluey was first to take something out, a small box covered in ladybug wrapping paper. She tore off the paper with enthusiasm to reveal a small box of assorted jelly beans by Jelly Melly. Bingo was next to take something out and it was a small tenderly wrapped package. "What's that one Bingo?" Bluey asked as Bingo carefully peeled up the tape. She continued to peel back the colored paper to unveil a medium sized photo album with a family photo of Chilli's family when they were young. "Is that, Mum?" Bingo asked the Blue Heeler. "Yeah, and I think that's Brandy!"

Bluey guessed as Bingo lifted the cover up further

Bluey guessed as Bingo lifted the cover up further. The girls gazed in wonder at the photo album until they both realized that they still had gifts to unwrap. Bluey removed a larger more awkwardly wrapped present from the bright blue bag and shredded off the wrapping paper to view a cute little green Budgie plush. Bingo then continued to dig through her bag and found an awkwardly shaped present of her own. She unwrapped it to see a box of chocolates and a cute blue Budgie plushie. "Hey Bluey, there's a card on the side of yours." Bingo noted as Bluey turned over the bag. She untapped the card from the bag and ripped it open to pull out the card from within. She opened the beautifully detailed card and inside it read 'Dear Bluey and Bingo, Happy Christmas, you two are the best granddaughters/nieces we could ever wish for, Love, Aunt Brandy and Granddad'

After a few minutes of gazing through the pictures of the photo album they tidied all their stuff away and Bingo headed downstairs for some snacks. Her sister was just about to follow her but her phone buzzed. Mackenzie was calling her. Bluey picked up the phone and lifted it to her ear to hear Mackenzie. "Hey Blues, happy new year and happy belated Christmas!" He exclaimed as the music and cheers echoed from downstairs. "Happy new year and belated Christmas to you too!" Bluey happily replied. "Oh, sorry I have to go, my Uncle wants to talk to me more, see ya Blues!" He stated. "See ya Kenzie, love you!" Bluey replied as Socks walked into the room. "Love you too, bye!" He said as Bluey hung up the phone to talk to her cousin.

"Hey Socks!" Bluey cheered as she walked up to her. "Hi Bluey, Aunt Chiwi asks if you want to play a board game." She delivered as she stared up hopefully at the older Heeler. "Sure!" Bluey declared as she stood up from her bed. The pair walked back downstairs and into the living room to see everyone sitting at the dining room table getting ready to start. "Bluey, come choose your piece!" Bingo invited as Bluey sat down next to her.

The fun and games continued for two hours until it was time for Socks and Muffin to go to bed. Finally it was time for everything to quiet down so they could both get some sleep. The countdown was in another two hours so Bluey and Bingo decided to go outside and play so the adults could have some space. "What should we play?" Bluey asked the little Red Heeler. "I don't know, maybe Aunt Brandy will play with us!" Bingo suggested.

The girls ran back inside to find their Aunt Brandy and they found her near the Punch bowl talking to Chilli, Frisky and Trixie. "Aunt Brandy can you play with us?" Bluey asked politely as Brandy set her cup down. "Yeah, alright" she replied as Bingo and Bluey lead her to the backyard. "Alright so, what did you want to play?" Brandy asked her nieces. "Hmm, what about hide and seek, but with a flashlight!" Bluey brought forward. "Yeah, that's sounds fun, what do you think Bingo? Bingo?" Brandy asked, sounding puzzled. "I'm back!" Bingo announced, clutching a flashlight in her paw. "Alright, I'll be seeker first, you have thirty seconds to hide!" Brandy playfully asserted.

Ten minutes passed and the three girls were lying on the grass looking up at the stars. "And that one's called Sagittarius, aren't you a Sagittarius Bingo?" Brandy questioned as she rambled on about the constellations. "Yeah, I am!" Bingo recalled.

It went silent for a few minutes but it was a nice silence. "Hey, Bluey, Bingo, how would you feel if you got another cousin?" Brandy quizzed. "It would be nice to have someone else to play games with." Bingo answered. "Yeah, it would be fun." Bluey added. "Well, I was thinking, that I might adopt a baby soon." Brandy admitted as the sisters let out a high pitched squeal of joy.

"Oi, you three get in here, you're missing the countdown!" Stripe yelled out the door. The three girls sprinted inside as fast as they could to make the countdown and they arrived with only eight seconds to spare.

A few seconds before Monday, January 1, 2028

"Three, two, one, HAPPY NEW YEAR!" Everyone cheered as they all hugged and the couples kissed. Auld Land Syne rang out through the TV as everyone finished their celebrating. The Dalmatian and the Sheltie on the TV said goodnight to everyone and wrapped up the celebration.

"Alright everyone I think it's time for our annual Heeler family tradition of saying everyone's New Year's resolution." Bandit announced as he sat back down in the couch. "Can I start?" Bluey asked excitedly. Bandit nodded and Bluey told everyone her resolution to get good grades and be helpful. Chilli then proceeded with hers, eating healthier and exercising more. Bandit's was the same as Chilli's and the group continued with their resolutions finally ending on Brandy. "Well, I think I want my new year's resolution to be to see more of Bluey, Bingo and my sister." Brandy responded. Chilli smiled as Brandy stood up to hug her.

The night ended off well with everyone saying goodbye and good night and Bluey and Bingo went to bed sleeping peacefully into the new year.
