I know you're probably wondering what this book could be about, or why I made it seem like you should be so eager to read it. If you're like me, a freshly new adult, there's a lot of things that we don't quite understand. Although, it all isn't about understanding. I'm not here to teach you or give you a step by step guide on how to go through life as a young adult. Believe it or not, I'm still learning myself, struggling as I go on.This book isn't for the closed minded, judgmental, or overconfident people; let me just add if you are one of those people, fuck you and your "perfect" existence. This book is for the open minded, perfectly imperfect, can't figure out their way through a wet paper bag, people. Growing up, I wish I would've had a book like this, but instead I'm writing one.
I'm learning as life goes on, being silent and quiet about your wonders and confusions as a young adult causes more damage than we might notice. For those of us who came up in a black household, in their eyes, when you turn 18 they automatically think that you should have this whole life thing figured out. A lot of us sit in our rooms on a daily, stressed, trying to figure out how to navigate through this thing we call life, scared to even open our mouths to ask the adults around us for some type of guidance so we don't go through this whole thing wrong. Then again, I ask myself, is there even a right or wrong way to go through it all?
Please do note that this book is souley based on thoughts. My thoughts. I'm choosing to say the things that some people won't say, admit some things that you couldn't pay most people to admit. And who knows, our thoughts might just align with each others.
Enjoy.
