It was 1 month and 1 week since the accident. Ash felt horrible for missing Remus's transformation. No one blamed her but they felt her absence.
Now she was fully healed. Lilly, Remus and Regulus all wrote notes for her. Each persons notes were helpful in different ways.
"We should really date," Sirius says.
"I didn't think you'd get more annoying after I just had such a close brush with death," Ash brushes him off.
"I've realized that I should make my move while I still can."
"My sister is not going to die and if she does I'm sure she would like to die without having ever dated you," James says as they head to the whomping willow.
"We all know that isn't true, right Peter?" Sirius transforms into his animagus and enters the tunnel.
"I er- wouldn't say that," Peter mumbles before transforming himself.
"I wouldn't either Pete," Ash and James follow behind them.
Remus didn't like the marauders seeing him transform, he knew how horrible it was and looked. He didn't even want Ash to see and by this time she was plenty used to it. Or as used to seeing your friend breaking all his bones as you can be.
While in their animal form they weren't able to communicate using words but it was like their senses had been heightened to the point where they didn't need words. Which is part of the reason they all immediately knew something was wrong.
Remus had been extremely tired and sickly in the days approaching the transformation. Much more than usual which signified that this was going to be a harsh full moon, and it was. The amrauders had spread out around Remus and Sirius was attacking his neck as Remus thrashed at the walls and everything around him. Ash flew around him and pulled at his hair with her beak. This went on for a few minutes, Peter and James of course joining in to try and calm down and contain Remus. Remus's werewolf form on the other hand didn't like that at all. That was made apparent when he grabbed Ash by the wing and threw her across the shack.
Ash let out a shaky breath as she hoisted herself onto her talons with her good wing. James having seen this paused for a moment to send her a look asking if she was alright.
She wasn't, but she didn't know that. In her bird form the wing hurt, burned due to the shattered bones and ligaments, but she couldn't tell that the werewolf had also scratched her. She would realise all of this in the morning when she transforms back into her usual self and finds three jagged gashes on her upper arm. But since she didn't notice now, she tried to fly. Excruciatingly, she did. She flew right in front of Remus and pecked at anypart she could and eventually her combined effort with the others got him to calm down. He was calm for the rest of the night but it had caught up with Ash. Sirius nudged James and gestured to Ash. James nodded and started towards Ash before Remus began stirring again. They both stopped and James gestured for Sirius to get her out of here.
Sirius grabs the phoenix by her neck and carefully lifts her onto his back as he took her out of the tunnel. She tried to fight it but she was barely conscious as it was. She couldn't leave Remus, but she had to. In the cover of night Sirius and Ash transformed back.
Sirius's eyes widen as he finds her arm drenched in blood and bent at an odd angle.
"Ash!" Sirius turns her so he can see her arm better, "we have to get you to the infirmary."
"I'm fine Sirius," Ash swallows clearly not fine but in better condition now that she was outside.
Sirius ignores her and carries her in his arms.
