Something felt like it was missing, a deep ache settling in his chest as he tried to force his brain to remember, the feeling was similar to when you’d walk into a room and forget why you did in the first place. It was important it had to be, that man claimed that he was his boyfriend but he was sure that he’d never met the masked man before yet there was an air of familiarity around him. A soft knock broke him from his spiraling thoughts and he was tempted to ignore it.
The blisters screaming on the bottom of his feet as he stood after there was a second knock followed by Price’s voice, “I know you’re in there son this important please open up.” Soap let him in with a sigh, “what’s up Cap?” he sat back onto his bed while Price settled into his desk chair across from him. There was a look of concern on Price’s face that left his stomach churning with uncertainty, “Simon asked to be discharged, what happened Soap because last time I checked you guys were good together.” A frustrated noise escaped his lips.
“I don’t know him Price, how would I know that’s wrong with him? I mean he came to my room claiming he’s my boyfriend yet I’ve no memory of knowing this man whatsoever.” The look of concern deepened, “that was true Soap he was also your lieutenant.” That couldn’t be right, surely he’d remember that mask, it didn't seem like the type of thing you’d ever forget, “what did Graves do to you son?” The look on Price’s face was nothing short of horrified, Soap swallowed thickly as he recalled Graves’ words when he had first visited Soap.
“Graves said that he didn’t want to hurt me, that he just wanted to take the one thing that I cared about most.” he trailed off letting silence ring out momentarily before asking, “was that Simon?” the ache returned to his chest as he thought about the mask man, the feeling as if he knew the answer but it was just past his fingertips where he couldn’t reach, “you and Simon were inseparable since you both escaped Las Almas. Do you truly have no recollection of him?” Soap just shook his head, “I remember Las Almas.”
He absentmindedly let his hand raise to where the bullet wound had scarred over, “he was there?” he sounded lost, confused and Price sighed softly, “from what you told us he was the only thing that kept you going and not succumbing to the blood loss.” Price patted his shoulder as he stood, “we’ll figure this out son I’m gonna go make some calls, get some rest.” Soap nodded, staring at the wall blankly as he tried to process what he was told.

He stepped out of the room, closing the door behind him and took a deep breath, knowing exactly who he had to ask for help, but he didn’t know if Alejandro would be on board with the idea. He had to try if not for Soap’s sake then for Simon’s, he headed towards the rec room in search of Alejandro and when he saw him there he sat across from him with a sigh and rubbed a hand across his face wishing he had his cigar on him, “something troubling you hermano?” Price nodded, “I need help and you’re not going to like the favor I have to ask of you.”
Alejandro’s face immediately hardened, “you’re not seriously considering Valeria are you?” is head dropped forward as he let out a groaned, “I don’t like the idea anymore than you Alejandro, but she may be the only option here.” he lowered his voice so that no one could possibly over hear their conversation, “while Graves had Soap in his custody he drugged and tortured him him and somewhere along the process he lost all memory of Ghost.” Alejandro’s brows furrowed, “and you think Valeria is the only resort?” Price nodded.
“The Las Almas Cartel specialized in drugged torture, it may be a long shot but perhaps valeria may have a way to undo whatever Graves has done.” Alejandro let out a long sigh, “if you believe this is the only way then I suppose I can arrange a meeting, let’s just hope that it doesn’t come back to haunt us later.” The next morning they were flying down to Las Almas and the smirk that Valeria wore when she greeted Price warned nothing but trouble was ahead, “hello Captain Price it is good to see you after all this time señor, what brings you to Las Almas?”
