Chapter 16: Dad Calling....

Alisha woke up three hours later. I was still in the same posture, lying on the bed. She woke up looked at me her expressions were neutral. She said,
“Were you lying here with all the time while I was sleeping?”
I just grinned and passed the question. “I didn’t want to disturb your sleep.”

This bought a beautiful smile on her face. She felt good. She was sitting on the bed. She came closer and embraced me. She asked, “What will you do if I go somewhere?”

“I will get you back,” I said promptly. “And firstly, I won’t let you go anywhere,” I said in the next moment. She moved back. I saw a bogus smile on her face. She went off the bed and walked to the bathroom. I asked, “But why do you ask so?”

She was speechless. She had no answer. There was something wrong for sure. She came out of the washroom after changing clothes. I asked, “Are you going somewhere?”
“Yeah… I’ll be back soon,” she said.
The time was witnessing a change in Alisha’s behaviour. I wasn’t even insisting her for anything as she had gone through a very bad phase of life.

The incidents must be crouching her. I had given her full space in the relationship. I said, “Come I will drop you.”

She clearly refused by saying, “That won’t be necessary. I am going out with my friends. Just give me your car, that will be enough for me.”
This was really strange. She had never ever refused to go out with me but I didn’t bother much about the issue. I thought it is just a phase and it will pass. She took the keys of the car and went out of the house saying bye to me.

I looked at her from the window and kept on looking at her until the car disappeared from my eyes. I was perplexed. I had never seen this kind of drastic change in the behaviour of Alisha. She wasn’t the same one. She wasn’t the one, I had met once. The reason for her transformation was still a mystery for me.

For a while I thought, the incidents happened to her in the past few days couldn’t be the reason for her strange behaviour. There was something that was scorching her from inside. Something unpredictable was happening in her life and I was completely not ok with the change, because she had kept me out of it. But I was a brash either, I had decided to fathom her state of mind at any cost. She was in trouble and being her boyfriend, I should have known what the issue is, but I didn’t know. At least, I could put efforts in knowing what was happening.

I was lying on the bed, thinking of Alisha. The sun had crossed the head. It had been more than an hour since Alisha went out. Since she was not in a good mood while she left the house, I thought to call her to know how is she doing now. I rang her phone.

She picked the call in the very first ring. She said, “Hi baby… missing me a lot.” Her voice was much more energetic at that time, looks like she had retrieved the old Alisha. The heart felt relaxed as she was out of everything she had to go through and was exploring the real world around.

“Where are you?” I asked.
“I am with a friend of mine. Why what happened? Missing your desert…” she replied in a nasty gesture.

I started blushing and so did the heart. I was really very happy at that time that she was back to life. I had just gone mad at that time. I was jumping and dancing and singing, while the phone was on. Alisha was listening to all the things.

“Okay… listen…” She said and I kept the phone on my ear, taking a short and deep breath after dancing and jumping. I was silently waiting for her voice to touch the ears. But after some time there was no response from either side Alisha said, “Hello Raj… Are you there?”
“Yeah… I thought you were saying something.” I replied.
“Listen, I will be late ok. So please don’t wait for me. And yes, you haven’t had any food since morning. You must be starving. Just order something to eat.” She said as if she was my mother.
