The next morning, Ajax meets me at the police station along with his father who is there as my lawyer. Upon entering the building, the three of us walk through the metal detector without incident, and we make our way to Dakota's desk. Parker is at his desk next to my eldest brother, and it looks like they are looking over a case file.
Stopping when my thighs touch the front of his desk, and slam my hands down on the top when Dakota does not look at me, and growl; "You need to stop harassing me. Threatening to call Child Protective Services on me for my job, that by the way, I never brought home around my child when I said I was going to move out with my son was your first horrid act. Then you proceeded to bother me while I stayed at home until I could find a place, and it continued while I moved him and I out. You could not respect that I needed time to process what happened between us, and the space to do so. Then you use your job to find out where I live, and show up, and pound on the door, and yell through it. This action not only pissed me off, but you scared my 2-year-old son, and ruined the fucking day I was having with my son and boyfriend. You need to fucking leave me and my son alone."
Everyone within hearing distance of us, have wide eyes and dropped jaws, and Dakota looks back at me with a guilty expression; "Can we take this to a private location?"
"Nope. We either do this here, or not at all, and when I walk away, if you bother me or my son again, I will file for a restraining order against you for him and me," I calmly state, surprising myself.
"Here is fine," he quickly replies, looking even guiltier, and surprised at my anger and words.
"That is what I thought," I grumble under my breath, standing upright while continuing to glare at him. "You. Need. To. Leave. Us. Alone. I was willing to talk to you before your little stunt yesterday, and allow you to gradually come back into our lives. But now, that idea is dead, so understand that, and if I do decide to let you back into our lives in the future, I will contact you by my own choice, not you constantly bothering me. If you proceed to harass me, I will be filling a restraining order against you, do you understand?"
"Dayton, please do not do this, we are family," Dakota pleads as I turn to leave after saying my piece.
Snapping my head back around to him as I scoff; "Family does not manipulate and threaten members of their family to get what they want. So, again, do not contact me again unless I decide to contact you."
"Okay, I promise, and understand," he meekly agrees with a slight nod of his head.
"Okay, and I hope you truly do understand this because it sucks not having my big brother around, or my son's uncle and aunt in his life like they used to be," I sadly say before turning back around to leave with Ajax and Mr. West.
When we arrive at our vehicles in the parking lot, Ajax pulls me into a tight hug that I sink into, needing the warmth, security, and love that he is offering me as his father asks as a joke to lighten the mood; "Are you sure you want to become a Juvenile Counselor instead of something in the law field?"
Giving him a watery smile and chuckle; "I would suck at anything that deals with law, but thanks though."
"Are you okay to attend your class today?" Ajax asks gently while softly hugging me a little tighter to his warm body.
"Yeah, I am okay. I need the distraction anyway, and I cannot miss any days since I am so close to graduating," I sigh, pulling away despite wanting to stay in the comfort of his arms. "I should head to class now, so I am not late. Will I see you later?"
"I am going to stop by tonight after I am out of work, and I am going to bring dinner," he sweetly offers after his dad leaves after saying his goodbyes.
"Yeah! I already miss you, and I cannot wait to see you tonight!" I grin, bouncing up onto my toes to kiss his lips gently. "When do you think you will be at mine?"
"About six, but if I am running late, I will let you know," he replies with a warm smile. "I will miss you, too, but now get to class, so you are not late."
"Bye," I murmur with a tiny smile before climbing into my vehicle, and heading out.
Several hours later, Darien and I are home, and I have been seriously thinking over the last few days about a particular topic that I want to discuss with Ajax. I think tonight is the perfect night to bring the topic up to Ajax, and find out what he thinks about this particular topic.
"Dada, w'ewe pa?" Darien asks while he and I color in separate coloring books while sitting on the floor at the coffee table - D has 'Superman' and I have baby animals.
"Pa is at work, but he will be here very soon," I tell him with a bright smile, and I am happy Darien loves Ajax as much as he does.
"Otay," he pouts, and I feel that he wanted my answer to be now instead of later.
"You love your pa, don't you?" I ask him as I watch him color his picture.
He eagerly nods as he continues to color; "Yesh! Luve pa! He niwe."
"Pa is nice?" I ask for clarification with a fond smile at my amazingly sweet son. "Would it be fun if one day we lived with pa?"
"Yesh! See him ewewyday!" he grins up at me as he looks at me as he stops coloring to stare at me with wide blue eyes.
Nodding at him so he knows that I heard him, and this makes me think the conversation I want to have with Ajax tonight is a good idea. Another couple of hours pass, and Ajax has just knocked on the front door, and when I open the door, he has three bags from a fast food restaurant in his hand, and a bright smile on his plump lips.
"Hello, my beautiful boys!" he greets, giving Darien a kiss on the cheek after picking him up before giving me a kiss on the lips with a growing smile.
"Hi pa!" Darien giggles, hugging Ajax around the neck as I greet him, too.
"Are my boys hungry?" he asks, gently bouncing D on his forearm with an even brighter smile. "I brought us McDonald's."
"Nuggies?" Darien excitedly asks with now clasped hands in front of him with wide eyes.
"Yes, I got you nuggies and apple slices," he assures the little boy with a soft chuckle.
"Fanks!" Darien giggles, bouncing himself in Ajax's hold.
"Thank you for bringing dinner, Jax," I murmur as we unbag the food and drinks onto the kitchen table after Darien is settled in his chair with his food and drink.
Ajax winks at me in reply; "You are welcome, my love."
"How was work? I am sorry if I made you late for work this morning," I shyly say, my cheeks flushing with guilt.
"I did not have anything until eleven, so you did not make me late, love. Even if you did, that would have been worth it to make sure you were okay," he instantly replies, and I know he is being honest. "Work went well, and I think the trial I am currently working on, we will win."
"That is great, babe!" I praise with a bright smile. "My sexy lawyer!"
He chuckles lightly at me; "You are such a joy in my life, Darien, too. How was your class?"
We spend the rest of dinner talking, and after we finish eating, he offers to clean up while I give D his bath, and get him ready for bed.
"Pa!" D hollers because he wants Ajax to read him a story for bed, too. and Ajax assures him that he is on his way.
