Okay, this is stupid. So unbelievably stupid.
This feeling, this-whatever this is. Is not normal. Raph is not supposed to feel this way. He should solve his own problems. He should be able to solve his own problems.
Raph looked down at himself. He liked his muscles. Enjoyed being physically strong. Before, he just thought of himself as too big. Once he got these muscles though, and started working out regularly. He actually liked how he looked. Strong, a turtle his brothers can look up to.
But.. He wasn't happy.. maybe his muscles aren't the problem.. his teeth? No, he liked his snaggle tooth. Leo said it gave Raph more character. And Raph agreed.
So what is wrong with Raph?
Easter was coming up.
He liked Easter. All the delicious chocolate. Mikey had once tried to make homemade chocolate but, it didn't turn out very well.
Raph liked Easter. He liked the baskets and the whole idea of bright pastel colours. Pinks and yellows and blues all pastel and just looking sweet and feminine.
He liked that.
Raph liked that.
He didn't have much in his room. Okay, that was a lie. He had a lot in his room. Most cloths stuffed into the closet. He didn't have a mirror in here though. Didn't need one. Didn't see a need to have one.
But now, he wanted one.. just to.. think..
No. Raph was fine. Raph liked Raph. He did. Raph did. Raph Does.
So why.. does Raph feel so uncomfortable..
''Heeyy, Raphie~''
Leo's voice snapped Raph out of his daze. But, something about what he said made Raph a little.. warm inside. It wasn't.. uncomfortable per say.. just.. something.
When Raph didn't answer, Leo knew something was up.
Raph had been like this for a while. Leo always noticed the little things. He always noticed these types of things. Mikey was usually oblivious and Donnie didn't exactly understand these kinds of things.
Leo did.
''Okay, Big Guy. What's wrong.'' And Raph's warm feeling disappeared. Disappointment all that was left.
He wasnt-what was he disappointed about??
Raph didn't understand this..
''Raph? Raphael? Raphie? Hello? You still there?''
''S-sorry Leo, whats up?'' Raph finnaly answered. Too late to save him now.
''That was my question. How you doing? Need to talk?''
Oh god, Leo was serious.
Leo's never serious.
Raph could feel sweat drip from his forehead.
Last time Leo got like this was when Donnie burnt himself out, once Leo got this serious there was no letting go. Donnie had broken down instantly. So had Mikey before-now it's Raphs turn.
Okay, maybe Raph was over reacting. Leo being serious is probably a good thing. He can talk to Leo without worry.. right?
''Raph. Talk to me, please.'' Oh god, Leo knew the right buttons to press to get past his brothers shell. He knew them all too well.
''I-I.. I don't know..'' Raph answered as Leo sat down beside him.
''Can you.. describe how your feeling?'' Leo asked carefully, and lowly, almost sickeningly sweet, like he was talking to a stray cat, trying not to scare it.
''Um.. uncomfortable? God, I don't know.. i-i can't..''
''You don't like how you look?''
''N-No, its not that.. I think?'' Raph tried. ''I like-I do like how I look. Its not.. not that.. its-i don't know.''
Leo thought for a minute.
''Okay, what doesn't make you uncomfortable?''
''Um..I like how strong I am.. my muscles, I like how I look um.. and.. I like, u-umm.. when you call me.. uh.. Raphie..'' He muttered the last bit.
With that, something in Leo kinda clicked.
''Kay.. do you.. like being my brother?'' Raph got defensive, immediately.
''W-what!? O-Of course! Your my brother i-''
''No Raphie. Sorry, I worded that wrong.'' Leo apologised and it didn't go unnoticed by Raph how Leo referred to Raph as 'Raphie'.
Raphie.. Raph liked it.. more than he thinks he's supposed to.
''O-oh..''
''Do you, or, would you rather, be my sister?'' Leo asked.
Raph was almost, almost about to say no-but, then he thought about it.. brows furrowed and eyes looking back down at his hands.
I mean.. he.. I mean, Raph liked the idea of being one.
He liked being called Raphie. Liked it a lot.
It sounded natural and Feminine. Not like Raph at all-but..
Leo was smiling, watching his brother carefully. Leo didn't want his brother, or sibling to be uncomfortable. No. Raphie should never feel uncomfortable around him, or anyone.
''I.. think.. I'd like that..'' Raphie muttered.
Leo grinned, wide.
''Okay.''
And it was as simple as that.
Leo was so, chill, so 'Okay' with it. Raph didn't really think Leo was being serious anymore. But, Leo's smile wasn't condescending, or playful, or full of shit.
It was sweet, and full of understanding.
Raph would almost say Leo looked wise. Not smart, Wise.
Raph didn't really understand it. But Leo seemed to. And Raph, felt understood, even if Raph didn't get it.
''You wanna go dress shopping, sis?''
There it is. That warm fuzzy feeling stuck like a heavy stone in his-her stomach. She liked it. Raphie liked it.
''Y-yeah.. I'd like that.. um.. t-thanks. Leo.'' Raphie smiled, then thought for a second.
''How'd you know?''
''Donnie went through the same thing a while ago. Hence why he came out as non-binary.'' Leo grinned, his playful tone was back.
''Also, they'll kill me if they find out I told you. So, don't tell them. Their still figuring it out.'' Leo added in a careful whisper.
''Okay.. um.. can you.. not tell-''
Leo, made a zipping motion, zipping his mouth shut, then locking it and throwing away the invisible key.
''My lips are sealed Raphie.''
Raph smiled, warm and he felt better. Comfortable.
''Thanks Leo. I appreciate it.''
''Anything for you, sis.'' Leo smiled, warm and bright, then 'That' grin came back.
''Soo~ I-''
Raphie put a hand over Leo's mouth.
''Don't even think about it.''
