Spencer
"Garcia? I need a favour."
"Anything for you, boy wonder. But does it have to be done at this time of day? It's well past midnight." Garcia grumbles into the phone.
"Unfortunately, it does. I need you to hack into the security system of this house." I tell her.
"Hack into the, wait, what? Is everything okay? Are you okay?" She rambles on, clearly more awake now.
"Someone came by early this morning and left a note at the front door. I need you to find out why I didn't get the motion sensor alert. I'm going to put you on speaker phone, Ruby's with me." I explain to her.
"Wait, Ruby's with you? Right now?" Garcia's voice tumbles out of the phone. I turn to look at Ruby, expecting to explain Garcia's eccentric behaviours, but I'm left speechless. She's just so close to me, sitting on my knee, and she looks so beautiful. I don't want this to be happening right now, of all nights. After that kiss, I wanted us to sit together on the couch, holding hands as we watched another Tom Hanks movie.
Ruby catches my eye and when it becomes obvious that I'm not able to form a coherent sentence, she leans forward towards the phone.
"Hi. It's Penelope, right? I'm Ruby, it's so good to meet you!" She says. On the other end of the phone I can hear Garcia typing away on her computer as she freaks out.
"Good to meet me? Oh gosh. Wow. It's nice to meet you! You know, I didn't tell Spencer this, but I'm a huge fan. I actually saw you on Broadway in Anastasia and you were fantastic."
"Oh wow, thank you. That's so nice of you to say. I got to tell ya, I've really enjoyed the meme's you've been sending Spencer. He shows them all to me so I can explain them to him and they're absolutely hilarious." Ruby laughs.
"He shows you them? Now I'm embarrassed. Most of them were about the dating rumours. Spencer, how could you!" Garcia accuses.
"I'm sorry, I had no choice. I didn't know what most of them meant." I reply.
"It's fine. I forgive you because you're cute, pretty boy." She says, and I catch Ruby look over with a raised eyebrow, mouthing 'pretty boy' as she looks me up and down. My hand squeezes into her thigh a little tighter at her appreciative gaze. There are so many things besides this that I wish we could be doing right now.
"It's okay, Penelope. Like I said, they were hilarious. I was actually finding myself looking forward to them." Ruby clarifies.
"Well, I'm flattered." Garcia says, before she finds something on her computer. "Okay, I'm working at home on my network, so things are a little slower and outdated compared to the office. But since the team just finished a case I was able to head home early so we've got to work with what we got."
"Where is the team? I haven't heard much about the cases since I've been gone." I ask her.
"Actually, they're in California as well! Up in the San Fransisco area. They were supposed to fly back tonight but Emily convinced them to have a night off in the city."
"That's good to hear. I miss them. I miss you." I confess to Garcia.
"Awe, I miss you too sweet cheeks." Garcia sighs. "Oh! I'm in. Alright, it looks like someone did hack into your system, but they were definitely an amateur. They were able to configure the code to turn off the notification alerts, but the rest wasn't touched."
"Well, that's a good thing, right?" Ruby asks from her spot on my leg.
"Sort of. It still means that they were able to access the video feed, so whoever this is saw you guys leave the house this morning."
