A canvas of memories stretched out before Simon as he lay there, enveloped in the soft embrace of his shared bed. His mind revisited each brushstroke from his troubled past, painting vivid images that danced before his eyes.

The inescapable roar of gunfire, the thunderous echo of military boots on foreign soil, and the intense fear – all were familiar friends locked away in forgotten corners of his memory. Those grueling years of service, bloodshed, and loss were instilled in him. It seemed like he couldn't escape, the memories. He always saw them the same way but in his dream, they were more brutal.

Simon always wondered when he could find his happiness, everyone around him, seemed to have found theirs, but him, never. Until he met Johnny Mactavish, he didn't know it then. But this reckless Scottish idiot would show him that he was deserving of love and happiness.

Johnny and Simon had spent a lifetime building their story—a tale of adventure, triumph, bloodshed, close calls, and the unwavering bond they shared. After years of wanderlust-fueled escapades, they decided it was time to lay down roots and embark on a new adventure together. This time they didn't have to fight or survive, Simon wouldn't have to worry if he was comin' home to Johnny.

It was in a whirlwind of spontaneity and romance that they found themselves exchanging vows under the neon lights and electric energy of Las Vegas. United as partners, they continued their journey only for their love to deepen, and their happiness to spread once they welcomed their baby girl.

In the delicate and tender world of parenthood, Johnny outshone as an effortlessly caring father, while Simon grappled with the gentle vulnerability of his newborn child. At the heart of it, Simon was anything but an inadequate parent - yet, he found himself distancing himself from the fragile wonder cradled in their arms.

Contrasting the gentle nuances and intricate fragility of their infant, Simon was a man of strength and vigor. His imposing, powerful exterior masked the affection.

As a little girl, her vibrant spirit was as brilliant as the sun itself - a delightful echo of Johnny's exuberance. Simon understood the importance of nurturing both her strength and her gentleness, shying away from the shadows that once hung over his past. a solemn vow to create an environment in which she could flourish without fear. It was a promise he made - to be the guiding light igniting her path, even in the face of uncertainty.

Through their moments together, Simon let her know that the lines of communication would always be open, no matter the circumstances.

Now she's a teenager and in high school and this made Simon's dull heart ache. Time really does fly.

Lying in bed with Johnny, the movie playing in the background was long forgotten. Engulfed in each other's embraces their lips moved in harmony. But Simon was getting restless and moved his lips to Johnny's neck, giving gentle kisses but gentle nips. The small bruises covered his neck and collarbone, they would have gone farther if the phone didn't ring.

Johnny jumped up to get his phone which was in the other room and Simon groaned, he was in the mood. But somebody had to fucking ruin it. He sat up and paused the movie trying to understand why his husband sounded frantic.

"What do you mea-"

As Simon stood there, his mind raced with a whirlwind of emotions, he couldn't quite make out the scene before him. His heart felt like an anchor in his chest, pulling him down with worry and dread.

At that moment, time seemed to slow down, transforming each second into an eternity. A thousand questions danced through his mind, none of them bringing any comfort. Simon found himself trembling in the fading light. Was his daughter alright? His heart, like a freight train, raced at breakneck speed, and his palms were slick with cold sweat. With every second that ticked by, a whirlwind of nightmarish thoughts swirled through his mind, as unbidden as they were unwelcome.

Johnny came back and he looked unnerved. "Well? What's wrong?" Simon inquired.

"That was the principal, Apparently our daughter punched a kid in her class. For no reason." Johnny rolled his eyes and began to get ready.

Simon was fucking baffled, that didn't sound like something she would do. He knew her better than that, they rushed to get ready so they could see what was up.

Arriving at the school they were led into the office and reunited with their daughter, by the looks of her she didn't look sorry. She slouched in her chair and had her hood over her head. The boy, who she had punched had an ice pack on his eye and was complaining to his mom about her.

Simon sat down beside his daughter and nudged her to sit upright and remove the hood from her head. The principal walked in and sat down on the opposite end of them. "Well, she needs to be suspended. She just hit him because she's a bully." The mother complained and Simon rolled his eyes.

The principal agreed and Simon wasn't having this and they were at least going to hear her side of the story.

"Wait a sec... What about her side." Simon asked and the principal shrugged, Simon felt ignored. "Mr.Riley we don't tolerate hitting here, she knew her actions had consequences. But I suppose we'll hear her side." He said with distaste and Simon could punch him for that tone

His daughter began telling her side, how she was bullied and made fun of all the time for knowing self-defense and having two dads. Simon felt pure disgust, and horribly, why didn't she come to him? He wondered.

She then got to the part where he pulled her bra strap and made comments about her body.

"What the Fuck!!" Johnny shouted, out of the both of them Johnny was the docile one. Simon felt the same way, he was outraged.

"Oh, we allow harassment, but punching him is an offense," Johnny added. The principal looked terrified, as he should, Simon thought.

"Well I mean we don't allow this, no we have rules against this." The principal smiled weakly. "She doesn't have to worry about her punishment any longer." He added. "No fuck you, now you want to listen." Johnny was outraged, simon put his hand on his shoulder to calm him.

"Wait a minute! She still hit him, haven't you heard boys pick on girls because they like them." The mom pleaded. She nodded hoping they would understand.

"Ma'am respectfully, fuck that logic. Your lucky I wasn't around." Simon said. "Word of advice, don't touch her again or you'll do with me," Simon said and grabbed his daughter's hand.

With that, they left and got ice cream because fuck him and their stupid logic.
