SCARLETT'S POV
I woke up to a cold empty spot next to me in my bed. I guess after I passed out Chris got up and left, which is understandable. We're not sleeping together, we're just fucking. I have to keep telling myself that in the mirror while I get ready like I'm an actress practicing her lines. As I got ready to head to the shop Hailey gave me a call."Why was Chris' car outside your house at 3am?" Alright, straight to it. No 'hello', or 'good morning'.
"Why were you outside my house at 3am?" I countered.
"You and Chris left in such a hurry that you forgot your debit card. I was coming to set it in your mailbox." Maybe I could get her off the topic of Chris.
"Oh, thanks, did you set it in there?" Right then I looked over at my bar and it was sitting there with a note in Chris' handwriting.
"No, I saw Chris outside getting into his car with messy hair and smelling like your perfume." Fuck me. "Why was he there?"
"He dropped me off at home."
"Y'all left at 11pm. Why was he leaving at 3am? Does it take four hours to drop you off?" No, it took us four hours to fuck. But I won't tell her that.
"We watched a movie."
"What movie did you watch that was four hours long? The Titanic?" I didn't say anything because at this point I was digging a deeper hole. "Listen, IF you are sleeping with Chris, just know Bryan and I talked and it's a bad idea. He's not good for you, Scar. I'll see you in a few minutes." Before I could even counteract she hung up the phone. I sighed and picked up the note that Chris left.
Scarlett,
We may need to start meeting somewhere else. I'll call you and let you know. Have a good day.
Chris.Like driving to a hotel isn't suspicious. I let out a groan of frustration and finished getting ready, then walked out the door to my car. When I walked into the shop Hailey handed me a cup of coffee and leaned against the frame of the side room, watching as I sorely moved about, prepping for the day ahead.
"What?" I finally asked, not even looking back at her. I was printing out the stencil for my first client of the day.
"Why do you look like you're sore from a hardcore workout, or maybe perhaps you're sore from hardcore se-"
"Drop it, Hailey." She went silent and walked back to her desk, then hopped on the computer to work on some record keeping. I rolled my eyes. Her and Bryan are always acting like they know what's best for me, but they don't. I know what I'm doing, and I'm in control of the situation. Mostly.
At lunch time I got a call from Chris, asking what I would like to eat and he'd bring it up to the shop. I gave him my order and he was there within thirty minutes, food and a Coke in hand. I pulled his wrist and looked at his watch, then looked at my books."I've got time if you wanna sit in the Hellcat and eat. Hailey just left to get lunch with Bryan." He agreed and I grabbed my keys, then locked the shop up and went to the car. I sat with my feet curled up under me on the leather seats, and Chris leaned his seat back.
"Do you think maybe going to each others houses is getting risky?" Chris asked as he turned his head to me. I shrugged my shoulders.
"It's possible. Really, Hailey means no harm. What did you tell her last night?"
"I said we were watching a movie and fell asleep. What did you tell her?"At least our stories matched. I sighed and leaned by my head against the headrest still looking at him.
"Same. I don't think she bought it. She'll get bored of keeping an eye on us in like, two days. I wouldn't worry." Chris sighed shook his head slightly.
"Maybe this was a bad idea-"
"No! No, it's fine. We just gotta get her off our case."
"You clearly got jealous last night, too, you're letting your feelings get in the way." Why was he bringing that up? We weren't even on that topic!
"Chris, I'm fine. I promise. Really."
"I should have known better, you're just too young." He wasn't hearing me out at all.
"Chris, I'm 22-"
"You're a fucking kid, Scarlett! This is just too much for you. I'm sorry I even started to put you through this."
"Chris, stop-" he got out of the car and slammed door, then walked to his BMW. I gave my steering wheel a few good slaps out of frustration. Everything was fine, perfectly fine. What was his change in heart and mind? What was going on?

CHRIS' POV
I let out a frustrated groan as I pulled into my garage. I didn't want to end things with Scarlett, but it didn't feel right. She was so young, and full of life and has so much love to give and offer. I don't deserve any of that. Last night as I watched her laughing and smiling as she got in on the Star Wars debate a few things were running in my mind: 1.) I was gonna fuck the hell out of her again after dinner. 2.) She's kind of a cute nerd. And 3.) Fuck, I think I have feelings for this woman.
After thinking about it all morning, I decided the safest option would be to stop things before we got deeper in, or else I was going to wreck her. The only problem was now she was just a recurring thought in my mind. Her laugh, her smile, her lips, her moans, her screams, her legs, her warmth, the list goes on. My train of thought was crashed into a wall when my phone rang. It was Ricky, but I was in no mood to talk to anyone so I declined. He called again. I declined. Then Vinny called."Guys, what do y'all want? What could possibly be so important right now?" I may have come across as a dick, but I was frustrated.
"Chill, Chris. We were just going to see what you were up to, if you wanted to go out?" Actually, that would be the perfect distraction.
