CHRIS' POV
I was exhausted. I had been for the past two weeks on this tour so far, and all I could think about was Scarlett. Her smile, her laugh, her chaos, then her dancing with that other groomsmen. He was never around much, so I couldn't recall his name. I didn't want to anyways."Chris," Ryan said as he sat next to me on the bus. I was torturing myself every time I saw Scarlett's social media practically. Every picture was her and what's-his-face on new adventures, and she'd dyed her hair black with green tips. It was a change, but it looked good on her. "Chris! Wake up! You've got to stop doing this to yourself. Either call her or forget her."
"I tried calling, she doesn't answer." I had tried several times, but when I started seeing the pictures I figured out why the calls went unreturned. Rick came out from the back of the bus, arms crossed.
"Dude, it's depressing to see you like this. It's been two weeks. What was so special about her?" Rick had a point, and I wasn't sure what was so special about Scarlett. She was just Scarlett, and that's all I could say. The moment my phone started buzzing I answered it, not even seeing who it was first. To my disappointment, it was just Bryan. They had just gotten back from their honeymoon beginning of the week. I wandered to the back to talk to him, hoping maybe he'd bring up Scarlett.
"How was Cancun, dude?" I asked him, leaning against the wall. He chuckled a little, and sighed.
"I didn't want to come back at all. It was fun, and nice to be off for awhile. Hailey said Scarlett's been slammed, so they've both been working late up there." My heart raced at the mention of her name.
"Are you going and helping them lock up at night? It's kind of unsafe for them to be closing so late by themselves." I was really only worried about Scarlett. Hailey would fight a grown man on her own free will, but Scar didn't have a violent bone in her body. I could hear Bryan's hesitation, he was holding back.
"Leo and I have been swapping nights with helping to close," Bryan finally let it out. I sighed.
"Is he good to her?"
"Yeah, he's great! I mean, he actually cares about her." I fell silent, and couldn't decide what to say. "I'm sorry, Chris, you know I didn't mean it like that-"
"No, no, it's fine. Maybe I never actually cared for her. At least that's what everyone is going to keep saying."
"Chris, come on man-"
"I gotta go, dude. Y'all have fun, I'll see you in a month." I hung up and walked back to the guys, who were seemingly pretending like they weren't listening in on the conversation. I knew they had been. I just rolled my eyes and sat back down, scrolling through social media.
Over the next few days, Scarlett would go silent on social media. No pictures, no comments, no likes. Silence. At first I thought she'd blocked me, but I could see her page still. I found it odd. Nothing had been posted or said in the past four days. When Bryan called after a show it took all I had not ask him about her."Dude, about what I said four days ago, I'm sorry. I know you cared about her, I shouldn't have said what I said. Though, can you blame me? You haven't been this involved with anyone since your breakup. I thought surely you were just keeping her on your line." There it was again, that saying. Keeping her on your line. I rolled my eyes.
"Nope, I actually was ready for a relationship, but she said we'd discuss it when I get back. Though, that won't happen now. She's with that jack ass from the wedding."
"Chris, Leo is a good guy. If you actually cared you'd be glad she actually picked a good one this time. What- oh, hold on, Chris. Hailey wants to talk to you." That's weird. I heard shuffling as the phone got passed, and Hailey got on. "Hey, have you heard from Scarlett? At all?" What kind of a question was that? Why would they ask me and not Good Guy Leo?
