-The brothers parted ways to see who could be more powerful, and so the chess game began-

The humanoid bat's wings flapped in the air. It swooped down towards Spades. She quickly ducked and rolled out of the way. Chuck pressed themselves against the scrawled wall. They were terrified of the beast.

The bat turned around right as Knox took their scythes and hit the bat's legs midair. The beast cried out in pain. Its eyes were bright gold and shifting to red as it flapped around the top of the cave. It swooped down and went towards Chuck.

Chuck didn't know what to do. They looked around the room at the objects. The beast was flying too fast toward them. Chuck took their knives from under their cloak, closed their eyes, and blindly threw them toward the beast. The beast let out a cry. Chuck opened their eyes to find their knives had hit the knees of the beast. Chuck looked up to see the beast swooping down toward them again. Chuck closed their eyes, turned away, and braced for impact.

Chuck felt a blast of heat in front of them. The beast let out another cry as its beings became singed. "Chuck, get out of the way!" Spades yelled before letting another last of fire come their way. Spades had played their bagpipes as fire irrupted from the bottom of the instrument and struck the beast again.

The beast turned around and looked at Spades. It ran over and lashed her. She fell to the ground and dropped her bagpipes.

Knox tried hitting the beast again but epically missed with more than three feet of air between Knox's scythes and the beast's feet.

"You sack of stupid moldy old bat suit," Spades said under her breath while wiping blood from her face. Funny enough, the insult had seemed to hurt the beast. It let out a pathetic little screech and seemed mildly annoyed.

Chuck knew they had to do something. They looked around the room. Time seemed to freeze as they focused their gaze on the dresser. Chuck knew what to do. I need to hide. Once the bat had swooped past the party, Chuck dashed towards the claw-marked dresser. They flew the doors open and quietly but quickly shut the door.

Once inside the dresser, Chuck tried to slow down their breathing. They closed their eyes and tried to think of something than their current situation. They annoyingly thought about a similar situation to this. "At least it isn't my mom outside this time," they said quietly to themselves.

Chuck peered through the small space between the dresser doors. The beast had its back to the dresser. It was down on the ground walking towards someone."Help me!" Spades cried. Chuck perked up.

I could either let my new friends die, just like my siblings... Or, I could fight the monster head-on. Chuck went to open the door. They felt a shiver of dread and fear down their body. I need to do this. These are my friends. They slowly crept up on the beast. Since the beast's back was to Chuck, they could sneak upon it. It stood eerily over Spades as she tried crawling back. She eventually hit the back of the wall. She looked up terrified as the beast got closer. Its mouth opened and exposed long fangs and a long saliva-covered tongue as it wriggled around. Chuck knew it was now or never.

"Hey, beast!" Chuck yelled. The beast turned around, its tongue still wriggling in the air. "Try this." Chuck threw the knives right toward the beast's face. The beast screamed in agony as both blades hit the beast in the face. It screamed out in agony as it fell to the floor next to Spades as she quickly scrambled to her feet. As the beast's head turned towards Chuck, blood was streaming from its eyes.

Knox came running forward and slashed his weapon toward the beast, hitting its abdomen. The bat slowly died as they all looked down at the body.

"Thanks, guys..." Spades said while she was catching her breath.
