The Girl out of Time

New world

Ember heard the Pods talking but her head hurt too much to understand what it was saying. She started to cough as her pod opened and she fell out. Her legs felt like spaghetti after a moment she remembered waking up to see someone taking Shawn her eyes widened and she pushed herself onto her shaky legs. She turned left and walked as fast as her legs would go to the end of the row where her mother would be when she reached her mom's Pod she pushed the button for the pod to open but it wouldn't. She swiped at the window and to her horror, her mother was there in the pod as if asleep but covered in ice. There was a thick layer of ice coating the pod as if it malfunctioned, she moved over to Mrs. Able's pod to see the same thing.

 Ember turned back to her moms and then to her dads. She again swiped at the window at first, she thought her dad had reached the same fate as her mother but then to her horror she saw the gunshot wound. The shot she heard before when she heard Shawn. It was someone killing her dad. She looked sadly at the bodies of her parents. "Don't worry mom, dad I'll fined Shawn and we'll be a family just like we were meant to be." Ember slowly made her way out of the room after a few turns she found a baton. "It's better than nothing I guess although I rather have my gun" she continued thru the room but to her shock, a giant roach started to fly at her. She was able to smack it with the baton and kill it.

"What the hell, giant cockroaches" she continued onward finding more bugs soon she found a room with a gun and a computer. She tried hard to not look at the skeletons on the floor she moved to the Terminal and found the way to open the door she made it out into the hall to see it have several bugs. After shooting them she moved forward. "I have to be close to the door" soon enough she was at the Vault door. She moved over to the panel and saw she needed a Pit boy to her luck and dismay there was a skeleton that had one. "Don't think about it. Just grab it, put it on and find Shawn." 

She quickly took it off the bones and strapped it to her own arm. It took a few moments for it to turn on and read her vitals. She used her new Pit boy to open the vault and went to stand on the path soon she was on her way out of the vault. "Don't worry Shaun. Sissy's coming for you." Ember was blinded by the bright sun as she finally reached the surface. After a few moments, her eyes adjusted to the light, and she looked around. There were bodies all around here as well. "Best place to start is home. See if there's anything left, I can use" as she made it down the path that felt like it was just an hour ago, they were running she started to see home, but all the houses were destroyed some were just piles of metal others were still somewhat in tack. She rounded the corner and with a happy jolt to her heart. She saw a familiar Mr. handy in front of her home.

"Cogsworth!" she yield running to the bot.
"Miss Ember how happy I am to see you."

"You're ok! I'm so glad you are still here."
"Well, of course, I'm still here a little radiation couldn't hurt me, but I dare say the loneliness has gotten to me a bit of course that's what happens when everyone is gone for over 200 years."

"Wh-what 200 years!" Ember said in surprises.

"210 to be exact... where are Sr. and mum and little Shaun, Miss?"

"Mom and dad are gone, something happened, and someone took Shaun did you see anyone pass by here?"

"No Miss I haven't seen anyone in years. Perhaps visit Concord and see if anyone there has seen anything."
"Concord... Ya, I'll go there. You stay here and try to clean up a little if there's anything dangerous that can hurt Shuan."
"Will do Miss."

Ember turned and walked the street. She had her gun out, she had read the history books that in times of crises people did dangues and stupid things it may have been 200 years since the bombs dropped but there was no telling what people would do. Ember made it over the bridge before she found a body a real body not just bones, she took a deep breath and knew what she had to do. She crouched by the man and dug into his pockets. She pulled out a few bullets and 5 dollars and a bag of what sounded like change. She stuck it all in her pocket and the bullets in the box of bullets from the vault she needed to get a carrier bag or jacket with a better pocket.

She continued on the street it was quiet and a lot of the world looked dead. 'I hope Shuan is ok' she thought as she started to come up towards a building "The Red Rocket" she said out loud she remembered in the summers the owner would bring out his old ice cream maker and give everyone free Ice cream. She felt a ping of sadness remembering that she had planned to take Shuan there on the first day of summer for Ice cream. As the old Gas station came into better view, she saw movement. She raised her gun ready for an attack only to be shocked when a German Shepherd made her way to her. 

"Wow you look like Bolt I wonder whatever happened to him" She crouched to seem less intimidating to the pup and held out her hand. "Hey, there pup. I wonder if you're a descendant of our dog he was a shepherd as well" the dog came close to her and sniffed her hand and started to wag its tail "Do you have an owner buddy?" the dog whined at that "Well... you wanna stay with me, boy?"

The dog perked up and did a small happy dance hopping on one foot and then the other. Ember gave a small chuckle "Well come on, boy I can always come back here later and see what's here, for now, we have to keep going" With that Ember was back on the street walking towards Concord with her new friend.
