From that day on Sunoo got hired, he had something to look forward to every day. His first thoughts when he woke up were about the bakery. While doing basic chores, his brain was filled with upcoming tasks at work that he had to do. While walking to uni, he was occupied about thinking about his new part-time job. Sometimes it were thoughts of worry, but sometimes also exciting thoughts.

So a week later, Sunoo found himself standing like always in front of the entrance of the shop, a satisfied sigh leaving his mouth.

"Oh you're here!" Sunghoon greeted him, as he noticed his new employee entering the shop. Waving at him, Sunoo bowed politely and slid the bag off his shoulders.

He received a nametag that he had to wear on his shirt. It was blue and had his full name written on it. Sunoo secretly loved to wear it, because it made him finally belong somewhere.

"Warm today, huh?" Sunghoon sighed, referring to the spring weather finally being around the corner.

Sunoo just nodded and waited for Sunghoon to give him a task to fulfil. "Oh you could clean the tables a bit", he informed, and Sunoo immediately made his way to grab a towel.

Sunghoon had figured out Sunoo wasn't the talkative type, or maybe he wasn't comfortable around him yet. He was a calm person and never gave his own opinions, but Sunghoon was happy to have him around as long as his work was precise. He didn't mind having to wait for someone to open up to him.

The warm water felt comfortable against Sunoo's hands, as he was scrubbing all the dishes in the sink. He was thinking about how to thank Sunghoon for getting him a job. Should he gift him something or tell him verbally? In any way, he was glad that keep his mind busy with something, even if it was with a job of his own probably. With the money he would receive, he could maybe-

"Isn't the water too hot?" A voice interrupted his thoughts and pulled Sunoo back to reality.

Sunoo looked down at his reddened hands and realized the steamy water indeed started to burn against his skin.

Hissing, he closed the faucet and looked behind him where Sunghoon was standing with concern at the doorframe.

"Since you didn't hear me calling, I walked over to check up on you", he explained, walking closer to the boy.

Was I that emerged in my own thoughts?

Even though it wasn't the first time Sunoo's mind had totally drifted off, it was still scary. His own mind was scary to him.

"Oh sorry, I didn't ignore you, I just really-"

"Hey it's okay", Sunghoon interrupted with a chuckle, "I guess you just had a long day behind you".

The baker handed him over a towel and assured him with a smile "Are your hands okay?"

After Sunoo's nod, Sunghoon added "Let's dry these quickly so that we can get go home earlier, okay?"

Together, they both had finished off quickly and got to close the bakery not too late. As they stepped out of the shop, Sunghoon took out his key to lock the entrance.

"Do you actually live near here?" he asked, glancing at Sunoo who was waiting behind him.

"Uhm", he muttered confused, "I live on the other side of the bridge, so it's not far".

It was true, it was just a 15-minute walk from the bakery. Sunghoon instead lived in another city, that's why he always used the car.

The elder nodded and pointed to his car keys "If you ever need a ride, just ask" A/N: why did that sound so wrong💀

Sunoo mouthed a quick thanks and bowed before walking away. "Oh and Sunoo?" Sunghoon called, which made Sunoo stop his walk and turn back around.

"I'm glad I got to hire you", a smile appeared on the elder's face, "I meant that to say sooner, but better now than never" a chuckle left his mouth and was now the one walking away first.

Sunoo's heart defrosted a little bit, and it felt strange but not scary. Someone was glad of his presence, and his work didn't burden anyone.
