a monster

Natasha curled up closer to Maria as she ran her hand along her back.

It was a rare night with some peace and quiet for the both of them.

You ended up feeling quite sleepy this evening, so Natasha put you to bed a little earlier than usual. This gave her and Maria a little extra time to spend together.

They both headed up to bed early, but only to curl up together and turn on a good movie and share a few sweet kisses together too.

Natasha was so comfortable and warm in Maria's arms that she closed her eyes. The redhead wasn't exactly tired, just so content that she struggled to keep her eyes open.

"Going to sleep, baby?"

"Not yet." Natasha said as she opened her eyes. "I'm still awake. I promise."

Maria smiled down at Natasha as she brushed the tips of her fingers along her skin.

She leaned in for what was just supposed to be another sweet kiss, but turned into a steamy and passionate kiss, one so deep that she rolled Natasha onto her back and hovered over her with her hands on the redhead cheeks to keep moving her lips passionately against hers.

However, they both pulled away when they heard something that made their hearts pound and their skins crawl.

The loud and scary sound of you screaming at the top of your little lungs.

They both jumped out of bed and ran into your room across the hall.

Natasha turned the light on and saw that you were in your bed with the stuffed animal Maria won you at the funfair tucked against your chest. Your chin rested on it as well as tears streamed down your cheeks.

"Y/N? Sweetheart, what happened?"

"There was a monster."

Maria frowned but did her usual looking around, hoping it'd help ease your mind.

"He was in my dream. It was scary." You whimpered and moved into Natasha's arms as she sat beside you.

"Oh, my baby. It's okay. Everything's fine now. It was just a dream."

Natasha looked over at Maria and watched her eyes turn sad. The brunette sat on the other side of you, who sniffled and pulled away from Natasha to get a hug from Maria as well.

"Oh, sweetie. It was only a dream. A really bad dream."

She sniffled against Maria's neck, your tears falling onto her skin.

"My room is safe?" You sniffled as you looked between your moms.

"Oh, it's as safe as it can be. I checked everywhere and there are no monsters in sight. I think you scared them all away with your scream." Maria teased and playfully tickled your side.

You giggled a little and let Natasha wipe the tears from your cheeks.

"Are you sleepy? You look sleepy." Natasha said as she brushed her fingers through your messy red hair.

"Think you can go back to sleep?" Maria asked, only for you to quickly shake your head.

"How about if I read you a story?"

You shook your head.

"Not even your favourite story?" Maria gasped and you giggled again.

"How about if you sleep with us tonight?"

You quickly nodded your head and got out of bed.

Maria brought along your favorite purple blanket and the stuffed animal and followed Natasha and you into the bedroom.

Natasha and Maria laid down with you curled up between them.

"No more bad dreams tonight. Mama and I got you." Maria assured and kissed your forehead before she started to quietly sing your favorite lullaby.

Your eyes closed and so did Natasha's, although Maria didn't know since she was too focused on making sure you got back to sleep.

Once Maria knew you were sound asleep, she looked to Natasha and shook her head with a big smile on her face to find the redhead fast asleep, too.

"So adorable." She giggled and reached for her phone to take a few photos of Natasha and you curled up close to her.

She laid her head back and closed her eyes, quickly drifting off to sleep feeling as warm as possible with a small smile on her face.
