After Arasaka's men wiped out my folks at the camp, I fled back to the motel.

I hoped I could stay there, for a while at least.

I knew that Night City was my last and only chance to turn my life around but I wasn't sure if I was ready to take such a high risk.

After all, this city was known to make people disappear.

People would go there, hoping to achieve their dreams, just to realise there's no way out anymore.

Once you're in the city, the only chance you have to survive is to fight.

Countless of Gangs, Netrunners, Mercs and Corporations were fighting a war against each other while Arasaka is watching the chaos unfold from the top of his tower.

Nobody was untouched by this war that has been going on since God knows when.

This city was like a black hole, sucking the life from everybody that comes too close.

But there's nothing I can do now. I either stay in this motel forever or I take my chances and enter this place of dead dreams.

Obviously, I wouldn't be able to stay at this motel forever. Arasaka would find me eventually, it was only a matter of time.

Knowing that, I only stayed till the next day before taking off and leaving the Badlands behind me as I came closer to the city.

I still had Arasaka's van that I stole while they were attacking our camp. I hope that'll be enough to keep the guards from asking too many questions.

I was forced to stop by the soldiers that were guarding the entry of the city.

"You don't look like you're with Arasaka".

One of them claimed.

Y/N: Says who? You?

Soldier: Yeah, me. I don't think you're with them, you look like a merc, not-

Y/N: Facts don't care about your feelings. Now, can I go through?

Soldier: Not with that attitude. Step out of the van.

Y/N: Why? I've done nothing wrong.

Soldier: You're acting suspicious. We just wanna check if everything's fine. Don't make this hard.

Y/N: You know what will happen if Arasaka finds out about this, right? You lowlife is stopping me from making a delivery to my boss, who literally runs this city.

Soldier 2: Maybe we should just let him go. He ain't worth the trouble.

The other soldier said.

Soldier 1: I just don't think he's with Arasaka.

Soldier 2: What if he is? We'd be in a lot of trouble if he tells Arasaka we're responsible for delaying his delivery.

Soldier 1: What if e isn't with them?

Soldier 2: Then he'll die within a week anyway, who cares?

Soldier 1: You know what? You're right. Fuck it.

He turned back to me.

Soldier 1: You ain't worth the trouble. You can drive through.

I drove through the checkpoint, finally entering Night City.

I didn't know many people in here but I knew a certain fixer. A pretty powerful one.

Her name is Rogue and I've done a few gigs for her.

She constantly hangs out at the Afterlife and I'm sure she has a few jobs for me to earn some credits.

After some minutes of driving I arrived at the Afterlife and went to the entry which was guarded by some kind of bouncer.
