Authors Note; This chapter took a bit longer and it's a little shorter. Writing these Chen/Wei books is more difficult than the vampire or lycan stories. These are based in reality and I feel like I need to keep them believable. So it's a bit more difficult than just making up whatever I want. Lol I'll keep working on it!

After Gu Wei has written up his reports on the incident, Chen Yu is actually taking him to the morgue with him. On the way, he gets a call from an overly excited Lin.

"Lin, calm down. I'm almost there. Did you find something?" Chen Yu asks, glancing at Gu Wei as he talks through the trucks radio.

"After you said your husband was suspicious, I went back over the brain more thoroughly. He's right. This was murder." Lin says, breathing deeply.

"Alright. We'll see you in a few, I'm pulling into the parking lot right now." Chen Yu says, ending the call and taking Gu Wei's hand. "Lao gong, you sure you're up for this?"

"Mn. Let's go find out what the hell happened to my patient." Gu Wei says, gritting his teeth.

Chen Yu is holding Gu Wei's hand as they enter the morgue. He sees Lin pacing and chewing on his thumb nervously and he clears his throat.

"Oh, Detective Chen! This, is like something out of a movie." Lin says, looking pale and wide eyed. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm Dr. Lin, the medical examiner. I wish we were meeting under more pleasant circumstances Dr. Gu. It's still a pleasure to meet you." He grins, shaking Gu Wei's hand. "Your husband talks about you often." He winks, then sighs, turning to an autopsy table.

"So, what was it? An overdose?" Gu Wei asks, looking down at the man that should have been discharged from the hospital tomorrow.

"No." Lin gives Chen Yu a worried look.

"It's okay. We need to know. I'm here with him." Chen Yu puts his arm around his husband.

"A large amount of air was injected directly into the iv line." Lin says, Gu Wei gasping and swaying. "The air bubble traveled through the bloodstream, directly to his brain. It caused a massive stroke."

"Damnit." Gu Wei says, raking his free hand through his hair. "Pneumocephalus could have been treated with emergency surgery."

"This was no accident Dr. Someone targeted your patient and, they knew what they were doing." Lin says, frowning and covering the body again. "If not for Chen's insistence that you knew what you were talking about and how he told me about the iv line, I wouldn't have found it. It would have been ruled death by natural causes." He says sadly. "I can't believe this is happening under my nose and to an elderly man?" He shakes his head.

"Thanks Lin." Chen Yu says, giving him a sad smile. "Come on lao gong. The hospital is investigating the case. Let's get you home. I'll start fresh in the morning with ge." Gu Wei just nods softly and let's himself be led from the room.

"Yu'er? These types of cases, they don't stop until they're caught?" Gu Wei asks, leaning into his husband's strong arm.

"Unfortunately, no baobei. They usually don't stop, until someone stops them." Chen Yu's jaw clenches and he feels Gu Wei sway in his arm. He sighs and scoops him up, cradling him close as he heads for his truck. "I'm going to stop them Wei. I promise." He kisses Gu Wei's forehead and places him in the truck.

"I know you will Yu'er. I'm just worried that we're going to lose more innocent lives." Gu Wei says, patting Chen Yu's cheek. He leans back, Chen Yu shutting the door and hurrying to get behind the wheel. "Whoever did this. They're careful and they know what they're doing. This won't be easy."

"You know I love a challenge and, I never back down." Chen Yu says, taking his hand and kissing the back of it.

"Mn, it's one of the many things I love about you lao gong." Gu Wei grins, shaking his head at the brow wiggle from his husband. He chuckles softly and sighs, knowing his husband will find the culprit behind this heinous murder and stop them. He just prays it doesn't take him long.
