Nobody could answer him as Axel walks over to the man and helps him up. "Hello?" He says. The man doesn't respond, looking around. He grabs his chest and winces. "You okay?" Axel asks and the man nods. "Do you know where I am?" The man asks. "Not a clue." Axel responds. They both go silent and look around.
Isaac walks over to the man. "What's your name?" He asks. "My name is Nick." The man replies. Isaac notices the gauze around Nick's chest and is surprised. "How'd you get that?" Isaac asks. Nick looks down and shrugs. "I think I was shot? I don't remember." Nick says. "How do you forget getting shot?" Emma says. Nick shrugs again.
"I was never told your names." Nick says. Everyone introduces themselves as Nick sits back down. Axel decides to sit next to him. Tanner and Isaac also sit down and soon everyone sits in a circle. "What are we doing?" Emma asks. Tanner shrugs and looks at Nick. "What do you remember?" he asks.
"Well, I remember that I was walking through a city, and I heard this noise and then I woke up here." Nick says. "Is that it?" Axel asks, concerned. "I mean, that's the part that I think is important. I remember who I am and who my parents are and stuff." Nick says, laying down. Axel sighs in relief. Isaac laughs to himself and Axel looks at him.
"What?" Axel asks and Isaac points at Nick. Axel turns to Nick and he's asleep sitting up. "How in the world can he just snooze so fast." Isaac says. Tanner pulls out a tennis ball and throws it at Isaac. Isaac catches it and prepares to throw it back, but then stops. "Why do you have this?" he asks. "I just fell asleep with it I guess." Tanner says.
"Pass it to me." Emma says and Isaac complies. She catches it and throws it to Kirsta but she doesn't catch it and it lands on the ground in front of her. "Sorry, " she says, picking it up and giving it to Axel. "Its fine." he responds, passing the ball to Tanner. They pass the ball around for a while until Isaac accidentally hits Nick and he jolts up.
He grabs the ball and throws it full force at Isaac, who somehow catches it in time. Nick is surprised and Isaac passes it to Axel. "I've been prepared after the pillow incident." Isaac says which makes Emma and Tanner laugh. "What?" Nick asks. "Oh yeah, you weren't here for that." Isaac responds.
Axel was about to throw the ball to Emma but the speaker suddenly comes to life again. "Sorry about that. We had a bit of a problem here." It says. "Before you get worried and or angry, we will be delivering your food shortly." Axel hadn't thought about food but he was hungry, so he was kinda happy about that. "Where are we?" Emma asks again, nicer this time. The speaker doesn't respond. Emma looks disappointed and gets up.
A box appears in the middle of the room and Emma opens it. Everyone walks over to it and looks inside. There's six bags, each filled with a sandwich, a bottle of water, and an apple. Emma hands out one to everyone and sits down. Axel sits down in a corner and opens the bag and grabs the apple. "Once you're done you can put the bags in the box." The speaker says.
Emma takes her water bottle and puts it next to the door. Axel looks at her, confused. Emma doesn't notice and walks away. Axel takes a bite out of the apple. He puts it back in the bag and looks around. Isaac, Nick, and Tanner are all in a triangle, talking. Krista is sitting alone until Emma sits down next to her.
Axel takes a bite out of his sandwich. He can't tell what's in it and just decides to not check. He keeps eating the sandwich and thinks. 'Did they select us for a reason? Was it just luck? If it is luck, how rare is it to choose six people who speak english?' Axel thinks. He had started eating his apple without realizing. He kept thinking.
'If we were selected for a reason, why? Why couldn't it be someone who was better? Eh, best if it's you because you deserve it-' Axel shakes his head and puts the last of his apple back in the bag. He keeps his water. Axel tries his best to crumple the bag around the last of the apple and throws it, landing it in the box. "Yoooo!" Isaac says, causing Axel to look at him.
"That was sick." He says. Axel smiles and yawns. 'How long have I been awake?' He thinks.
Almost if it's on queue, the lights turn off. "It's night already?" Nick asks. "Well, whatever time it is, I think we're meant to sleep." Emma says. Axel lays down and hears someone getting up. He hears the sound of something getting put in the box.
Axel lays down and closes his eyes. He knew that he would wake up here and probably be here for a long time, but he didn't care. It was nice being around people that were nice to him and definitely was better than his old home
