VI: Fever

       "Good job guys, we did great," complimented Lloyd. The ninja just returned to the monastery after a successful mission. Everyone seemed great; except Kai.
       "Kai, are you feeling well? I noticed your body temperature has risen during the ride home. I also noticed you were more sniffly than usual," asked Zane. "Uhh yea, probably just allergies," Kai sniffed. The ninja exchanged worried and concerned looks.

       This continued on for 3 more days, until Kai stayed in his room for breakfast. "Do y'all know where Kai is?" Nya asked. Everyone shook their heads. "I'll check on him," Cole said, with a worried expression on his face. He approached Kai's room and knocked on the door. "Come in..." said a faint voice.
       When Cole came in, he couldn't believe what he saw. Tissues all over the floor, blankets wrestled on the bed and floor, and Kai sniffling violently. "Kai?! Are you ok?!" Cole quickly rushed to Kai's side. Kai replied with a cough.
       "Yea, I'm fine," Kai managed to choke. He waved to Cole, gesturing for him to go away, but Cole said no. "I'll go back to the others so they can help me, alright?" Kai nodded in response.
       Cole quickly rushed back to the kitchen, grabbing some medicine and water. "Cole? What's wrong?" Zane asked. "Kai doesn't look to well. Can anyone get him a trash can and some blankets?" He replied with worry. Everyone went into Kai's room, cleaning it and helping him.
       Zane scanned Kai for his temperature. "He, indeed, does have a fever, his temperature being 120 degrees F," commented Zane. Kai groaned, while the others comforted him.

       Later that night, Cole decided to stay with Kai. He watched Kai's chest rise and fall, sleeping peacefully despite his fever. Kai suddenly stirred awake. "Oh! Sorry Kai, did I wake you?" Asked Cole. "Go to sleep, don't worry about me..." Kai mumbled. "Never! Not until I know you're well," he replied.
       Kai only chuckled in response, when suddenly, he started feeling lightheaded. "Cole," he muttered.

"Yea Kai?"
 
"I'm feeling a bit dizzzzee..."

The next thing he knew, Kai was on the floor, feeling warmer than ever.
