Chapter Three

The group settled into a routine at the gas station. Samantha showed them how to fortify the building and set up traps to keep the walkers out. They spent their days scavenging for supplies and their nights taking turns keeping watch.

As they got to know each other better, Samantha began to feel a sense of camaraderie with the group. They were all survivors, and they all had lost someone they loved. But they had found each other, and they were determined to make it through this new world together.

One day, as they were on a supply run, they came across a group of survivors being attacked by a swarm of walkers. James immediately took charge, barking out orders to the others.

"Emily, take Michael and get to high ground! Tom, cover our backs! Samantha, come with me!"

Samantha hesitated for a moment, then nodded and followed James into the fray. They fought side by side, taking down walkers with ruthless efficiency. Samantha felt a rush of adrenaline as she swung her makeshift weapon, a metal pipe, at the walkers.

When the last of the walkers had been dispatched, James turned to Samantha, a grin on his face.

"That was some good shooting, Samantha. You're a real asset to the team."

Samantha felt a flush of pride at James's words. For the first time in a long time, she felt like she belonged somewhere.

As they continued their supply run, Samantha noticed that James was limping. She pointed it out to him, and he shrugged it off.

"It's just a scratch. I'll be fine."

But Samantha could tell that he was in pain. When they returned to the gas station, she took a closer look at the wound. It was infected.

"We need antibiotics," Samantha said. "If we don't treat this, it could kill you."

The group discussed their options, and they decided that they would have to make a trip to the nearby town of Newnan. It was a risky move, but they didn't have a choice.

They set out early the next morning, with Samantha and James leading the way. They moved cautiously, taking care to avoid the walkers that roamed the streets.

When they reached Newnan, they found that it was overrun with walkers. They would have to fight their way through to find the antibiotics that James needed.

It was a brutal battle, with the group fighting for their lives against the horde of walkers. But they were determined to get the medicine that James needed.

In the end, they found the antibiotics and made their way back to the gas station. James was weak, but he was alive. Samantha watched over him, making sure that he got the care he needed.

As she sat by James's side, Samantha realized that she had found something that she thought was lost forever. She had found a family.
