An unexpected guest interrupts your dinner date with Henry....
But who???"Well, you definitely will be tonight! And before you go...I want to have a little talk."
'About what?' I asked.
"Jamie and Henry......" she stated.
'Ummm... I really don't have time right now. Henry will be here any minute.' I explained, hoping to avoid this little talk of hers.
"Lils, you can't keep avoiding this! Why, don't you want to talk about Jamie?" She questioned, placing the empty mug on the wooden table in front of her.
'Why I would I WANT to talk about him?' I replied, leaving the comfy sofa, placing Hannah's mug on the marble counter beside the sink.
"Because you've been distracted lately. And i think it's because you haven't talked to Jamie. Now do you miss him or not?" She asked.
'Miss him? Please....uh..yes, I miss him. I miss him a lot, okay?' I confessed, releasing a huge sigh whilst returning to my seat in the living room.
'Is that what you wanted me to say?' I added.
"Yes, actually, it is. You've been in denial. Why don't you call him?" Hannah suggested.
I took one glance at my phone and looked back at my sister, meeting her gaze before responding.
'No way. I'm not Anna anymore. I thanked him multiple times for what he did for you... but there is no reason for us to speak casually at this point.'
"You did say Donald called you today...." She began, with a smirk on her lips.
'Who the hell knows what that was about. Donald is over the place. I just want to go back to living my life and being normal.' I explained, playing with the rings on my fingers, twisting them around.
"And your sure that's what you want?" Hannah asked.
'Yes. Now, go to bed! I'll come check on you later tonight.' I told her whilst she made her way towards the guest bedroom down the hall and waved goodbye as i reciprocated her actions of waving goodbye. As me and Henry arrived at our destination for the night, we walked into the dimly lit restaurant. The air was thick with the scent of freshly brewed coffee and the chatter of dinners filled the room. The clinking of the silverware against plates intermingled with the soft murmur of conversations. Not long after, we were both greeted by the hostess and were led to a cozy booth in the corner of the restaurant. I could see the bustle of the kitchen through a small window and the glow from the grills seemed to have lent a warm, inviting air to our surroundings.
As we sat down to peruse the menu, I couldn't help but notice the warm ambiance of the restaurant. The soft glow of the candles on the tables created an intimate atmosphere, and the sounds and smells of the kitchen made me feel quite hungry. However, before I could decide what to order, Henry began to speak.
"That's a really... interesting outfit."
'What, you don't like it?' I questioned, attempting to hide the disappointment in my voice.
"Are you kidding? It's awesome. And you look beautiful in it." He answered.
A smile curled on my lips as I replied. 'Thanks. It's one of Anna's.'
"I figured." He said. I rolled my eyes in response.
"Look, lils... I want to start over."
'What do you mean?' I asked, my eyebrows furrowed with confusion.
"Well." He began. "Before this whole Anna thing happened.... I had been waiting months to ask you out. And when we finally got the chance, I felt like everything was going to be perfect."
'And then I left...' I added, finishing his sentence.
"And then you left." He repeated with agreement. "Now sometimes when I look at you... I don't feel like you're totally with me. I feel like your head is somewhere else."
'I'll be honest with you, Henry..... Those two weeks changed me. I don't think I'm still the girl I was before I left.... But I'm me, and I like you.' I assured him, intertwining our hands on the cloth table.
"And I really, really, really like you too."
'You know, I had been crushing on you for months. And I still remember those butterflies I felt in my stomach when you finally asked me out. Those butterflies are still there, Henry. I'm just—'
Suddenly, as we were having a private chat, a man abruptly approached our table and interrupted our conversation.
"Chicken parm, Lils?" Asked the man. "Is that what you call dinner around these parts?"
I was confused to how this man knew my name, until I gasped in shock when I came to the realisation that I knew that familiar voice. No! It couldn't be, could it? I was taken aback when he began speaking to me and my heart froze for a moment when I realised it was.....
'Jamie?!' Me and Henry said in sync.
'What the hell are you doing here?!' I question.
"You look surprised to see me. Didn't you talk to Donald?"
'No, he called while I was at work. And he didn't leave a voicemail.' I explained.
"Ugh, typical Donald. Anyway he has a business proposition for you. The pay is 2 million dollars-"
'WHAT!?' I yelled.
"Yeah.. anyway.. we probably shouldn't talk about it in here. The walls have ears you know." He whispered.
"Well, then if you can't talk about it....why are you here?" Henry questioned.
'Yes...how did you find us, Jamie?'
"I went by your apartment and your sister told me you were out to eat. I know you like Italian. Not a place like this—"
"Well if you can excuse us, we're kind of on a date." Henry said.
"Well, I'd hate to interrupt your cheap chicken parm date. I'm going to drive around until I find a decent place to stay. See you tomorrow, lils." Jamie left.
'I'm sorry. I honestly had no idea he was going to be here. And I'm sorry he was rude. He.. can't seem to help himself sometimes.'
" don't apologise for him. It's not your fault."As we drove towards my apartment building, we chatted about our day, laughing and joking with each other. The sun was just beginning to set, casting a warm glow over our surroundings. As we approached my building, the sound of the city faded away, replaced by the gentle hums of peaceful chatter amongst other residents. We climbed the stairs, taking our time and catching up on each others lives. At last, when we arrived at the door of my apartment, I turned around to face Henry.
'I had a great time, Henry. Thanks for dinner.'
"My pleasure. Maybe soon we can go on a trip somewhere." He suggested.
'I'd like that... we'll, I better go check on Hannah.'
"Alright..."
'Goodnight, Henry.' I said placing a soft kiss on his cheek, soon after waving him goodbye.
Henry waves back as he began to make his way home.As I turned round to face my apartment door, I stopped and took a deep breath before placing the key into the lock. I tuned it slowly and carefully, feeling the metal mechanism slide into place. I pushed the door open, just enough to slip inside, pausing to assess the situation.
The hallway was bathed in dim light from a nearby street lamp, casting a shadow across the floor. I slipped my shoes off as I stepped onto the cool hardwood; I tiptoed across the living room, avoiding the creaky floor boards as best as I could.
Suppressing a yawn, I quietly made my way to my own door. Without making a sound, I silently turned the knob slowly and successfully stepped inside my room, easing the door shut behind me. I stood there for a moment, letting my eyes adjust the darkness, before finally collapsing onto my soft double bed with a contented sigh.
Ugh, I can't believe Jamie interrupted my date with Henry! I can't believe Jamie is here at all! Where the heck is he going to sleep? He's not going to like any of the motels around here...
Lilly🤍
Hey j, have you found a decent motel around?British boy💙
No, they are all disgusting 🤮Lilly🤍
My apartment is up for offers.
Is that okay for your luxurious standards? 😂British boy💙
Sweet, thanks lils.
On my way now...Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and I run towards the entrance giggling, knowing it's Jamie. I pulled open the door with a wide smile on my face, revealing my warm welcoming demeanour. I eagerly embraced Jamie, greeting him with an enthusiastic hug, welcoming him into my home. I lead the way to my bedroom, where I had prepared a cozy and comfortable space for us to sleep in. My room was adorned with twinkling lights and soft blankets, giving it a warm and welcoming ambiance.
As Jamie settled in placing his bags on the ground, I grabbed the snacks from the counter in my lounge area and brought them through in a basket, placing them on top of the blankets. Jamie discarded his hoodie and gave it to me as he pulled me into the bed wrapping his arms around me and bringing the blankets up to our chests.
"Thanks for letting me stay over." Jamie said, caressing my hair as he spoke.
'No problem, goodnight Jamie.' I yawned, as my eyes fluttered shut and my head placed against his chest.
"Night, lils." He whispered, falling asleep with his arms around my body.A/N: hey guys, I'm really sorry about this chapter it isn't the best piece of writing but I hope you enjoyed it.
