Izzy had spent the night before watching all of her best fake-dating rom-coms, including the obvious 'To All The Boys I've Loved Before' and the iconic 'The Proposal', and had stocked up on tips on how to sell a fake relationship. Of course, both of those movies had ended with the fake relationship becoming real, but Izzy had decided not to focus on that. She and Ricky were strictly business, they were barely even friends. Frankly, she didn't know anything about Ricky, including the fact that he didn't have a car, which was made apparent when he walked up her driveway, where she was waiting.
They had agreed that Ricky would pick Izzy up from her house first and then they would go to school together. Izzy had assumed that meant that Ricky would swing by in his car to take her to school, the same way EJ had been doing for the past two years. Unfortunately, Ricky hadn't had the same thought process.
"Hey," Ricky greeted, stopping in front of her, but Izzy didn't return his smile, unable to hide her confusion.
"You don't have a car?" Izzy asked, not bothering with a greeting in return, and Ricky frowned as he blinked in surprise at her bluntness.
"No. Is that a problem?" Ricky asked and Izzy hurried to arrange her facial expression into a more pleasant one.
"No, of course not, it's just that EJ has a car and I don't think he's going to feel threatened by someone who doesn't," Izzy explained and Ricky rolled his eyes.
"That's ridiculous. And pretentious. And usually, I skateboard to school, but I thought since we were going together it would be better to just walk," Ricky said and Izzy sighed.
"Yeah, I guess," She said, before following him down the driveway toward the path to school. As she walked behind him she caught a whiff of something strong that made her cough harshly.
