What now?

__ Erins pov __

shock. I'm in shock, I must be, because normally when you're told you're gonna have a baby you're happy, not crying out of fear and hyperventilating. I always dreamed of having a baby but not like this, not when I'm in a cage. not when my father's still alive. 

I meet the eyes of the man I love and find the same look that I imagine I have on, just he's better at holding it together. I'm glad about that, for both our sakes. but when I meet the eyes of my father the fear becomes unbearable and I can't help but choke out a sob that fills the silence. My father is fuming bright red in anger, barely keeping it at bay. I bet if this was a cartoon, you'd be able to see smoke coming from his ears.

everyone jumps at his sudden loud outburst directed at me " YOU FILTHY WHORE! you and your parasite are an ABOMINATION TO GOD! YOUR A DISGRACE TO HUMANITY! just like your whore of a mother was" Shock follows after his anger bursts and all the three of us can do is watch as he stomps out of the tent. rough whispers are heard as he talks to one of the standing guards outside.

A few minutes later and said guard comes into view "I was ordered to move her back to the ark" the young boy says as he waits for approval from Sarah, and when he gets it, he strides over to my cage, unlocks the bard door and roughly tugs on my chains. I let out a sob when I stand up with a sore and stiff back. I keep my head down as we walk towards the tent door. When we pass by a pained-looking Deacon, he lightly brushes my arm with a comforting fingure, careful as not to move too much so that no one else would see the interaction.

a deep darkness fills my heart at the thought of what awaits me back in the ark, and I can only hope that whatever it is it doesn't kill me. I'm not finished with this world yet. not even close.

__ Deacons pov__

Sarah is the first to break the uncomfortable silence first " I thought you were dead" I nod my head, still stuck in a funk from what just happened "Same to you" She makes a move to come closer but I step back and finally look up at her "what the hell happened to you. what the fuck is wrong with you" her face hardens "I don't expect you to understand " good because it'd be a waste of time. she's not a fucking dog Sarah, she's a human being"

she throws her hands up and huffs "It's been almost three years and that's what you want to talk about, not how are you or how are you alive? Why do you care Deacon, it's not like you know her. She is the key to getting our lives back, what's the problem? What's one life if everyone else is dead, Deek? she's insignificant to what needs to be done"

I shake my head " If you're what the world has become then I say let it fucking burn" she scoffs "I forgot how much of a soft idiot you can be. It's good to see you, but I don't have time for your fucking judgment. I have work to do. Here's what I need you to get for me. you can show yourself out." She shoves a clipboard at me before she turns her back and goes back to her microscope. I take this as my sign to leave and turn towards the door but Sarah's voice stops me short " I know you know her; I know it's yours. just by the way you look at her. You probably see me as a monster and you have every right to, I've done so many horrible things to her and I know you won't forgive me for it but please know that I'll try my best to keep her alive. I'm not your wife anymore, she died on that helicopter and you mourned her and moved on, I understand that and that's why I'll keep her safe for your sack. I do care Deacon, and I still love you even if it's one-sided. I'm not a bad person, I'm just broken."

" Your right, my wife is dead. and I hope you know I'll stop at nothing to get her out of here alive, even if that means killing everyone in here. We're all broken Sarah, but that's not an excuse for the things you or I have done. I appreciate your offer but if you lay another hand on Erin, I'll kill you" and with that, I open the door and leave behind the woman I used to love.
