I look at Baghra, who continues what she is telling us about the Darkling, "He chose a nobleman's name to hide after he made the Fold." Baghra tells us, as I feel like this is all lies, he would have told me he was the black heretic, would he have told me, "You're lying." I mumble out as Baghra looks at me with a frown knowing I should believe her; I have been here longer than Alina, and I have been by Baghra's side all this time, "Look at me, girls." Baghra tells us as she flicks her wrist, which has the room to be surrounded in darkness, which has the blood run from my face on the truth in my eyes that has it hard to breathe, "You can...But he said only Kirigan's bloodline.....You're his mother." I mumble out, finally knowing the truth of Alek that he has kept for so long from others.

How could he do this to me, "My son tried creating his own army with merzost. He didn't think about the people who lived there, what such power would do to them. Turned them into the twisted, evil things that attacked you." Baghra tells us as I look at Alina. We must stop this; we can not let the general control us, "The volcra were men?" Alina questions as I gulp in as grip my hands into fists; he lied to me and expected me to love him in return; well, that is never to happen now, even if I shared his bed tonight, "And women. Children. I warned him there'd be a price." Baghra tells us to lead us into a room full of little things that must have been from the old kingdom as they seem to be old Ravkan, "But that happened only centuries ago!" I call out while going after Baghra with my eyes trained on the older lady, "He's had many names, served many kings, faked countless deaths, waiting for you, both of you." Baghra tells us as we come to frame as she throws back the cloth to reveal Alek.

Still, he is wearing another uniform, so I made love to a man older than me, which has me gulp as I look at the picture that is weird and a little gross, "With you at his command, he'll be able to enter the Fold and weaponize it as he always planned. He'll be unstoppable." Baghra tells us as I gulp in my emotions, overwhelmed by the lies I was fed by the man I was growing to love, "But he told me that he wanted to make the country whole again." I whisper to myself as I look to the ground with a downcast expression, tears coming to my eyes as it becomes more apparent, "He's had centuries to master lying to naive girls. Did he tell you how lonely he was? Give you a glimpse of the wounded boy? He isn't a boy at all. He is eternal. And you both never stood a chance. Do you think this was just about you? He's been obsessed with power...." Baghra tells us as my heart hurts that I have been lied to this whole time by this man who I thought loved me, but he was only playing me, "....with hunting all of Morozova's creatures. You nearly gave him the Stag." Baghra tells us as she steps forward. When my sister takes my hand in hers, she knows I am breaking the news being related to me, I gave him my body and soul, and yet he crushed it under his boots. "And I'm telling you, you both must hide," she tells us and then moves away as I breathe in. I should have known not to trust the man when I first met him; I should have listened to my heart then.

I follow after Baghra with my lips in a thin line hating. I give into the man that he is, "We won't help him. We'll fight back." I tell the woman who looks to us to reach over, touching my cheek softly, knowing I gave into my heart because he was special. Still, he only thought he could control me to be another sun summoner under his thumb, which I was becoming, "You're far from strong enough to face him. I thought I had more time to prepare you, but it'll have to wait." Baghra tells us as I gulp in, looking at her as she opens a passageway for us, handing the lantern to me as she lets me go; I climb in, and I hold out a hand for Alina as she takes my hand in her's while I help her up into the passageway giving Baghra one more look as she nods for me to gulp in as I turn to the darkness ahead as I begin leading Alina down the path with my lantern in hand.

But it was small, so I put the lantern on the ground to make a light ball in my hand, which was brighter while we walked along, remembering Baghra's words before we entered here, "Stay on the main path until the fork. Take the path to the right. You'll find food storage. Wait there. There are some Grisha who are loyal to me. They will help keep you safe until I find a plan." Baghra's words ring in my ears as we come to the fork for me to breathe in. I look to the right and then to the left. Looking to Alina as she nods, knowing we have to escape this place. We go down the left path hoping not to stick around here and to find our peace away from the Darkling.
