After having talked with Winfrey, Romina threw herself into her studies. But no matter how much research she did she could never choose what magic to learn. It all sounded so interesting. So Romina figured it was best to speak with Winfrey again. After deciding she headed out immediately with toast in tow. "So, what have you learned?" Winfrey asked as she sat down in front of Romina. Despite how busy she was she still took time out to teach Romina when she asked. Winfrey's shop almost always had someone shopping in it which was a bit odd to Romina as not many people lived in Doveport. Every time she entered the shop she saw beings she had never seen before, sometimes it was familiars and people and other times it was odd magical beings. These beings don't live in this town, maybe the door is simply a gateway?
"A lot, but I'm not sure what to start with," Romina said as she stared at her hands. Toast stood by her side staring at the plants and stuff around them, once more she did not move around as she had not been commanded to.
Winfrey thought for a moment, "I might be able to help you. I happen to know a lot of beings who can teach magic. I know one in particular who is pretty good with predictions"
Romina's face scrunched up in thought, "how is that gonna help me?" Romina asked looking up at Winfrey. Win towered over most of the people she knew, no matter the age or species. The only beings the same size as her happen to be other dragons.
"You would be surprised" Winfrey held out her hands to Romina, "let me see here" When Romina took her hands her whole vision went dark. Until she blinked a few times and found herself in a snowy forest with a heavily injured man laying in the snow. The snow was turning crimson and a ringing was all that Romina could hear. A second later she found herself in a warehouse surrounded by giant tubes of water and monitors. "It's a threat! We must attack" a woman's voice called behind her. A second later she was transported to an empty room with 5 doorways. In front of each door stood a guardian. The first was a door of light and beautiful nature, before the door stood a beautiful fairy with long hair and a gorgeous face. The second had a door of pure light before it stood a guardian with a face illuminated by light.
After that the door was filled with darkness, the guardian of that door was hard to see but his eyes stared into Romina's no matter where she looked. The second to last was a smaller door with a young-looking guardian with dog features. The last door stood alone, the doorway looked broken and destroyed. Before it stood a guardian with long hair that looked like a galaxy, she wore a face of sorrow. The doors all shut but the door of darkness, the guardian stared past Romina at someone she could not see behind her. He spoke in a language Romina had never heard but somehow understood, "your choice is made, do not look back" he said.
Suddenly Romina found herself back with Winfrey who sounded like she was in a panic. "Romina? Are you with me?" She asked frantically. Romina blinked at her a few times. Winfrey sighed, "you really scared me, kid. Are you alright?"
"I think so?" Romina said, it was so strange but it felt like she had seen through someone else's eyes. The world seemed dull and different than how she had always seen it.
"What happened? I lost you immediately, believe me, you that does not normally happen" Winfrey asserted confidently, although she still sounded concerned.
"I saw some things" Romina replied her eyes darting around the room. This caught Winfrey's attention.
"I've heard of magic users being able to see things but I never believed it to be true" Winfrey commented. She looked stressed, she stood up and walked to a bookshelf at the other end of the room. "What did you see?"
"A snowy forest and a man on the ground dying, a warehouse full of tubes and monitors, and a room with 5 doors and 5 guardians" Romina explained. Something of those made Winfrey stop in her tracks and turn around. Clearly, by the look on her face, she knew something was up.
