Prologue:
In times of war, peace is viewed as valuable. In times of peace, we are fearful of more war.
Humanity decided to conquer and failed, we must pick up the pieces they have left behind for us. This world is left unexplored due to the fears of the inhuman who fought against humanity.
We must never fear adventure but embrace the challenge of venturing and exploration.—
Perched on a low-hanging tree branch in a park in the small town of Doveport, sat a half ravalian girl. She kept fidgeting with the short bangs that draped down as they pleased. In her hands was a book, an empty journal. She had a pencil in her mouth, she was holding it in her teeth. Once in a while, she'd brush away an orange or red leaf that would fall onto the book. Her legs flailed back and forth as she stared at the book before she gave up and put her legs up onto the tree. She rested the book onto her knees and took the pencil out of her mouth. The pencil, now filled with tooth marks, sat in her hand lead pressed against the paper. But nothing came out of it. Her mother had given it to her as a present for her recent birthday, she had just turned twelve. The big number one and number two, it meant in a year shed be respected as a teenager.
At this very moment that didn't matter, she couldn't decide what she could write about. Then it hit her, she could write about her little town! Including all the people in it, it's been years since her mother's journal had been written. There was plenty to write about by now. She got right into it, "My name is Romina Pharaceres, the daughter of Vasya and Onni Pharaceres. And I want to write about my little town just like my mom did years ago" Romina read aloud as she wrote, "hm, maybe that's not such a good intro" she said thinking out loud. Her thoughts were interrupted by the yelling of her friends in the distance. They had all agreed to meet in the park today and Romina had gotten there early as she lived right across the way.
Dawn was the first riding in on her skateboard showing off to their three other friends as she did trick after trick as if they had never seen her on her board before. Dawn was practically glued to the thing, the only thing that could separate them was her mother. Romina hopped down from the low tree branch she was sitting on, gliding slightly thanks to her bug-like wings on her shoulders. This was a near-automatic reflex her body did when she fell or jumped from almost any height.
Romina is a ravalian, a partially alien avian subspecies that lives in an empire exclusive to those who can fly. Her mother was also a ravalian, and her father was an alien through and through. Her father, who had been without parents his whole life, never knew what he was he just knew he wasn't from this world. According to Vasya, Romina's mother, the empire enforced a bunch of rules and that's why her mother was banished. No one can confirm this due to its rules and secrecy. The Avian Empire was not to be messed with, they are powerful beyond most people's beliefs. The empire itself exists in the clouds, suspended by ancient avian magic, or so her mother had told her. Ravalians are an avian subspecies that are characterized by bug-like wings attached to their shoulders that open up and out by instinct to glide, float, or fly. They look similar to beetles and dragonflies mixed, the tail bit included.
"I beat all of you by a mile! You guys are so slow!!" Dawn exclaimed before chanting at the friends, "who's the king? I'm the king!" A few times as they caught up. Dawn was always competitive no matter what the task was, it was always a race to her. She was also the world's biggest hype man, if you beat her you were a hero to her for the rest of the day or until you raced again.
Dawn is part werewolf, part imian, and part llumien and the oldest of their small crew of preteens and teenagers. Not many teenagers live in the town but they all know each other. Being a young werewolf she retained the dog ears and tail from her first werewolf transformation a few months prior. Adult werewolves do not hold onto this trait as young werewolves do. Imians are an onuterran subspecies from the Solar Kingdom and llumiens are a fairy species from the same kingdom, Dawn carried none of the llumien genetic characteristics, unfortunately. Her brother on the other hand did. Llumiens are an endangered species as of the fall of the Galactic kingdom after the princess went missing years ago.
