"come in"

I open the double big french doors of my father's office. I step inside and stop in my track when I see him sitting at the head of his large table with my uncle Isaac on his side.

From the look on their faces, I just know that I just interrupted a serious conversation between the two of them. I bring my hands behind my back and hold them, i straight my back and I look above their head as I wait to be told what to do.

"we'll talk about this later, Isaac" my father says and I hear chair's noises, telling me that they stood up "Come back tonight for further details" My father says, diminishing my uncle.

My eyes shift on him when he starts to make his way toward the doors which aslo means toward me "Isaac" I nod my head and he scoffs "drop that military attitude, Ryan. It's just me"

I glance at my father behind him who nod his head one time at me. My back immediately relax and I bring my hands back on my side. My uncle grins at me and rests a hand on my shoulder "you're good at it" he says and i don't know if he said it for himself or for me.

"It was good to see you, kid" he smiles before leaving the office. He closes the french doors behind him, leaving me alone with my father.

''You can sit down, Ryan'' he nods at the seat I usually take when we have a meeting which means two seats away from my father.

Tyler is at the other end of the table, facing directly the boss, my father as the meeting goes by. Damian and Elton on his sides and me beside Damian with Drake in front of me. The rest of the guys sit like they want, they have less important places around the meetings.

After he had authorised me to sit down, I pull out the chair and take a sit in it, my back is straight and I wait until I have the permission to relax.

When it's just a talk with the family we don't apply the proper rules but when it's with other families or allies, it's another thing.

We have to look ahead and never in my father's eyes. We have to sit straight and wait to be told to talk or move before doing it, and many more. My father took those rules really seriously and we have to follow them as we first step inside this room until the last one we left it. Except if my father told us to drop it. It happens sometimes.

''It's okay son, we're only the both of us, no one else is except'' he says as he takes a sit himself. I relax my back and turn my eyes to look at my father ''I want you to tell me what happened that night. I want to know what happened through your eyes, through your point of view''

This question doesn't surprise me. We always have a meeting with the guys after we handled a business so my father knows what happened and can act if he has to. It's like a way to protect his business and us at the same time. If the business was unwell done then he has to take a look at it and he hates it.

If he gives us those things to do by ourself it's for value ourself in my father's eyes, it's for showing him we're able to do a small business without messing it and it opens doors for more work we can do, more important things.

We have responsibilities at a very young age and we learn to deal with it on our own or with the help of each other. We're a family, so if one go down, everyone follow.

I nod and clear my throat ''we came at her house, her kids were asleep and there were no one in the streets except us-''

''Are you sure ?'' He cuts me ''are you sure you were alone or that the kids were in bed and not listening in the staircase ?'' He's harsh and direct like always in a talk like this one. It used to intimidate me, scare me even, the firsts few times. But that was before.
