Taking the gavel, I hit it three times to gain my committees attention. It's second week of this semester and we need to get our plans together for Homecoming before Principle Simmons grows impatient and takes matters into his own hands.

"We could have a bonfire?" A sophomore suggests.

What's a sophomore doing here?

I lean to my right and ask my second in charge, "Sean, how did he get in here?"

"Apparently he's really good at his job, so I recruited him."

I trust Sean's judgement, if he thinks he's good then I'm fine with that. I don't have the time of day to interview new recruitments myself.

"Okay, I don't mean do be rude but bonfires are mediocre and gay." A junior at the end of the table yells, slamming his hand to the table.

Feeling rejected and embarrassed the sophomore slumps back into his chair and remains quiet. Though the junior is right to say it is mediocre, he didn't have to say it like that.

"Thank you for the suggestion." I bow my head at the freshman, trying to make him feel better.

"Well, we've all agreed that our Sister School is apart of this Homecoming." I remind the committee.

Mia. She's a senior in that school. What I wanted was for her to stay away from me but school is just as important so I can't just band Richman High from all interactions with out sister school just because of our nasty break up. That's selfish. Our sister school reminded us that this year is our turn to plan our Homecoming, so it needs to go off without a hitch.

"Our budget is eight grand." My second in charge and treasurer reads out from his sheet of paper.

"Correct." I support, "We do not want to go over or under this budget."

It's my last year; I need to make this Homecoming the best there is. My year is depending on me, of course I know how to have a good time but I needed some inspiration for it.

"So what are we going to do?" the same sophomore asks.

Somewhere extravagant to pass as a Homecoming and a bonfire is too easy. Think, Spencer, think! Rubbing my eyelids together I count to five before letting out my ideas flow. What's the heart of Seattle? I've got it; smiling to myself I hit the gavel once more before revealing my suggestion.

"Gentleman, imagine an attraction. A space all to ourselves, Homecoming mistaken as a party." I drop hints here and there.

I look over to my second in charge to see if he's gotten it, he's smart enough to pick it up.

"What are you saying, Spencer?"

I smirk, packing up my spare sheets of paper because I know this plan is good enough to win over my committee. "Seattle's very own Space Needle"

"Yes." Someone hisses under their breath.

"We can rent out the whole attraction for the night, hire catering and make it classy."

I came to realise that we didn't need sand and fire and water to celebrate a new year with new endeavours. We are Richman High, we are gentleman so we needed to keep this classy as possible.

"And what about the parade?" a junior asks.

"Fireworks. Why don't we show our competitors that Richman High will be the private school to watch, as it always is," I simplify, upping one for him.

Knowing smiles and nods were exchanged. I have the gavel in my hand at the ready, I know this is the right step to take, Dad will be there with me and I'll become known as the Head Boy who rented out the Space Needle for one night for Homecoming.
