Chapter 3: An acquaintance by memory

'Sabo's POV'

Just as Sir Mihawk's class was finished, I couldn't find Luffy anywhere. I still have to ask him since he knew who Fire Fist is, and he was cut off by Mihawk! I gotta find him right away, or I'll lose my mind about this. I then saw one of Luffy's friends walking towards my direction, it was Usopp who seems to be looking for something, he saw me and came in front of me asking, "hey Sabo! Have you seen Luffy? He said we're gonna have a snack rush today, but he isn't here... have 'ya seen him?".

I respond, "I was actually going to look for him also, I got something to ask him about...".

Usopp sighs in defeat, dangling his arms, "...when it comes to him, we will never find him in time for next period", he walks away while waving goodbye to me, I returned the wave and proceeded to look for him.

I walked all the way to the staircase, I might as well look for him much higher, I climbed the stairs with each step and as I reached to every floor I couldn't see him, 'where the heck is this kid?'. I somehow reached the rooftop and thought, 'Alright if he isn't here I'm telling his dad', I opened the door and scanned the vast area, then I hear footsteps behind the entrance. I looked over to see that guy again at Miss Mama's class, when he turned to me, no doubt about it that he is him, he still got the same freckles and same jet-black hair from last time. "Oh hey there, I didn't know you come around here...", I greeted.

He kinda looked surprised to see me, wonder why, "oh...hello there also, and uhm, yeah I do come here", he repiled.

We were both in silence for a while, like dang, how did interactions became so hard to do these days! I kinda want to break this silence because it's getting pretty awkward, "so... have you seen Luffy?".

I must've startled him a bit because he jumped a bit upon hearing my voice, he quickly stiffen and eventually replied, "Oh no...I haven't seen him, why?".

"Well, I just have something to ask him about this person".

He stood now less stiff as he tried to look away or something, "oh, you know Luffy, off to cause some trouble somewhere", he replied as I chuckled.

Soon we both started to chuckle at the words he said, the chuckling soon slowed down and I spoke up, "you seem to know about him, huh?".

"Yeah, it could be a hassle to have a roommate like him".

"Oooh, your roommates with him?", I replied then lowered my head to him, "well, my condolences for your sanity..." as I smirked.

He laughed at what I said, and respond as he also lowered his head, "oh don't worry, it's now 6ft underground ever since he came to my dorm".

We again laughed at that, wow, I never knew that he was also close to Luffy, it kinda makes it special for both me and this guy, which reminds me, I didn't get the man's name before, god, how could I be so forgetful nowadays. As we both slowed down from the laughing fest, I quickly asked him, "...so I never actually got your name earlier, I was in such a rush back then that I forgot...", it might have been weird for me to ask that, but curiosity gets the best of me.

'Ace's POV'

Did he really asked for my name, I guess he doesn't know me yet but that's alright by me, I guess. I replied to him with a sincere face, "I'm Ace... Portgas D. Ace".

He might have been the first time he learned my name, well of course it would be, he never met me before. "Ace...? Why does that name sound familiar to me...", he spoke up which startled me a bit. Like, there is no way he remembers me, right? "Well I'll remember it soon, it was nice to meet you Ace", he extended his hand out and a smile was plastered in his face, 'Why did the universe made him so fucking cute!!!'.

I accepted the hand and firmly shook it, "yeah... same here, Sabo right?" I said faking to not know his name, even tho I fully know his name.

He giggled a bit, which made me blush a little, 'God I hope that Marco isn't watching this...'. "Well, aren't you looking for Luffy earlier?", I immediately changed the subject.

Sabo then realized it and lets go of my hand, "oh yeah, I completely forgot about him", he turned around only to see Luffy sneaking towards the door, "there you are!".

"Uh oh...", Luffy yelp as he dashed to the door, followed by him running after him behind.

As they both were out of the rooftop, Marco cautiously emerged from where he hid, and walked towards me, "so... did you joined because of him?".

I kinda was surprised at what he said, "w-what, nah I didn't..." I protest.

"Ace, dude, I'm your best friend, and if your crush is him I understand, tho why hide it from me? Do you not trust me with that secret?".

"What! Dude I do trust you, it's just that..." I paused trying to find the words that fit to what I say, "...I guess I was scared that you guys would make fun of someone like me to have a male crush...".

Marco then patted my shoulder, I turned towards him and he had this expression that said 'I would never', "dude... I would never, and I mean never, make fun of my best friend for having a crush with someone he loves, whether it be a girl, a boy, or even a dog".

I smiled with what he said, "thanks dude, I'm glad you accepted me..." I said, then continued "... and you really need to stop with the furry shit".

Marco's expression changed from before to a 'are you fucking kidding me' face, "bruh after that pep talk, you hit me with that shit?", I just can't help but laugh while he still had that same expression, I continued laughing for so long that Marco had to stop me, "... so you're okay with you two just being friends?".

I replied, "yeah, I'm okay with that, after all... he seems to not remember me that much".

"Wait what do you mean by that?", Marco asked as I just ignore him, "No really Ace, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN BY THAT!!". I smirked and simply just walked away while I hear his faint voice babbling about something, my mind somehow drifts to a memory that I wish to forget.
