13.

Summer~

"Thank You" I smiled at the waitress who showed me and my mother to our table. I invited her out to lunch at 9Mile Station restaurant. I loved the outside patio they had and the food here was amazing. "Can I start you off with any drinks?" The waitress asked. "I'll have a glass of the mill keeper cabernet sauvignon please and I also know what I'll like to eat. Can I have the Avocado toast" I sat my menu down. "I'll take a water and the avocado toast sounds good I'll have the same, thank you" My mom ordered. The waitress nodded "No problem, I will be back shortly with those drinks first"

"Where's my grandbaby? Why haven't you brought her over lately?" She asked starting the conversation. "She's with her dad for the weekend. She will be home Sunday I will be sure to bring her over. I've just been so busy working on my own schedule and incorporating her father's schedule so I haven't had much down time to bring her over" She nodded "Mhm and how is the co parenting with him?" I shrugged "It's whatever he finally has a girlfriend so he doesn't really say anything to me anymore unless it involves Kayla. Which is exactly what I wanted"

I was confused as to why she was shaking her head "I still think you guys could've worked it out. Y'all have a child to raise together. Instead yall are confusing her, you're bringing her around Meech and who knows who her father is bringing her around"

"Here's those drinks for you. I will return with your food shortly" I nodded at the waitress and turned my attention back to my mom "Well at the end of the day she is well taken care of and has both parents that's all that matters. Unlike me" I took a sip of my wine

"Excuse me?" She scrunched her face up. "Unlike me. Mom Why didn't you tell me that my father wanted to be in my life?" I took my sunglasses off and set them on the table "What are you talking about Summer?" she sat up. "Mom he reached out to me and told me about all of the letters he wrote, money he sent that you returned to him, gifts he wanted to give me and everything more. Why didn't you tell me? You literally were being selfish and cut him out of my life for what?"

She looked away from me and then down at the table "I was bitter Summer. I was 19 years old with a newborn wondering why this man who I thought loved me would want to leave me. I was young and dumb. I knew that he had a fiancée at the time and still continued to sleep with him. Once I got pregnant with you I just knew he would leave her and be with me forever. I guess I was looking for someone to fill that missing spot in my heart that I didn't get from not having my own father in my life." She wiped one of her tears "I know what I did was wrong. At the time I thought I was doing it to protect you but as I got older I realized I did it to protect myself and my feelings. Yes I was selfish and I always think about it. I just want you to know that" Now more tears were coming as she used her folded napkin to wipe them. "I'm so sorry Baby" She now looked back up at me.

I wiped a tear that fell "I forgive you Mom, It's just it's a lot to take in. You Know?" She slowly nodded her head "Yes I understand whatever you do Summer just don't use what I did against me seeing my Grandchild. Even if you hate me after this conversation" I smiled lightly "Of Course not! You know she's a grandma's baby" I laughed to lighten the mood a little.

5:00 pm | Summer's House

The sound of my phone ringing woke me up out of my sleep. I looked over to my side and seen that Demetrius was gone. I slowly sat up against the headboard, my body was sore as hell. Demetrius wore me out as soon as I stepped inside the house earlier. I picked up my phone just as it started ringing again. "Yes Nikole" I answered.

"Girl wake up, I'm about to come over" She said happily. "How do you know If I wanted company or not?" I heard her keys in the background and then the sound of her car door closing "Girl I don't care what you want. I'll be there soon byeee" she hung up.

There goes my alone time. I flipped the comforter back to get out of bed and got in the shower. Once I was done I did my hygiene routine and went into my closet picking out a skims tank and short set. I cleaned up my room and then grabbed my phone so I could head downstairs. Nikole just walked right in. "Yeah remind me to take that damn spare key from you"

"Yeah anyways" she smiled and locked the door behind her. We went into the kitchen and Nikole sat in one of the bar stool chairs at the kitchen island. "What took you so long to answer the phone earlier?" She pulled out a Casamigos bottle and lemonade. "First of all where did this damn bottle come from?" I laughed and went into the cabinet getting two glasses "And I was tired and sleep that's what took me so long I shouldn't have answered"

"I was still going to come over even if you didn't answer. How did lunch with Ma go?" She said as she focused on making our drinks. "Girl it was alright I confronted her" She stopped pouring and looked up at me "No you did not! Oh my god what did she say?" I shrugged "Pretty much just broke down to me and gave her excuses. It's still fucked up but I can't even do anything about it but move forward. I still love her and I'm looking forward to maybe having a connection with that side of the family. They are having a dinner next weekend. You should come with me"

She slid my drink over to me "Oh absolutely, you know I'll be there"

Later that night

I expected to have a quiet night and here I was on live answering questions with Nikole's drunk ass. We were now in my living room playing music from the Tv and singing our hearts out in the midst of the questions "Even at your best (yeah, yeah),Never knew it'd come to this, You know often, I get so lost in my thoughts just thinking 'bout losses, And I remember where I come from, I already won"

I read the comments and laughed "Im 23 babes, Aww I love you more! Thanks" I smiled "Yes maybe two more kids and then I'm done. Now Taina you know we love you, you're out there living your best life with your 'other' friends" I put a emphasis on 'other'. "Here y'all go.. Let's not talk about anyone from my past." I answered a few more questions and then ended the live. I seen Nikole was now smiling at her phone and swinging her feet. "Damnnn not you in love"

she flipped me off. I paused the music as I got an incoming facetime from Taina. "Hello stranger" I joked "I miss you guys I'm ready to come home now. However...." She dragged on. "Spill the tea" Nikole said as she forced her big ass head in front of my screen. "Girl move back"

Taina played with her hair "I think I'm about to get my lick back"
