"Hyunjin, can you please come where I am?"
"I need you."
Panic increased in Hyunjin's body, sending his senses into overdrive and causing him to become breathless. A daze also engulfed and drowned his mind, destabilizing him. Only a few puddles and errant trash cans were visible to his hooded eyes as they anxiously scoured the dark alley. Hard breaths caused his chest feel to heavy, as though he were harboring caged birds that were ceaselessly slamming against the prison walls and inflicting inside anguish.
Where was his friend? Han needed him and Hyunjin failed to help him.
"Hyunnie." He heard a small voice call out his name, his head snapping toward the sound instantly, ignoring the pain in his chest as he scurried to where his friend was.
"Han!" He breathed out with relief, pausing briefly to gather his breath as his gaze was finally fixed on Jisung who was safe, thankfully. "What happened?" Hyunjin asked him as he came to his senses, his strength returning gradually. "Are you hurt?" He murmured softly, padding toward Han and started checking his body for any injuries.
"I'm sorry..." Was all that escaped Han's lips as he bent his head slightly to stare at Hyunjin, a dark glint dancing in the perilous nights in his friend's eyes.
The tallest one tilted his head in confusion, hard breaths still erupting from betwix his plump lips as his eyebrows formed a small frown. "Wha-" As soon as he began, he felt strong arms grab him harshly and pull him away from his friend.
"Let go of me!" Hyunjin screamed, dread surging him once again as he noticed that the people that grabbed him were police officers, red and blue lights illuminating the godforsaken alley. "Han!" He shouted his friend's name again, this time frustration laced around his tone, morphed with panic. "Did you orchestrate this?" He made numerous attempts to elude the grips keeping him restrained, but to no avail.
Jisung said nothing in response, his hands still clasped behind his back as his head stayed still, his eyes forming holes in Hyunjin's skin from the intensity they radiated. His frame was becoming tinier by the second.
"You never change, you snake!" Hyunjin started shouting again, his voice giving out from the betrayal he felt in his chest, which hurt every bone in his body. It hurt, it hurt so much. He was already going mad as it was. "Fucking selfish bastard..." His voice wasn't steady as he muttered the last words, constantly breaking as he spoke. "You never fail to let me down and stab a knife in my back, do you?" Hyunjin muttered to the window, not even realizing the cops already cuffed him and threw him their car, locking the doors. "You promised..." His voice was barely a broken whisper.
He could only stare at the way Jisung's body shifted around and began walking away, not glancing back for once. And Hyunjin hated that he felt hurt, he hated that he had expectations from a fox, he hated that he belatedly let a tear cascade down his pale cheek, he hated that he cared so much.
They promised each other they'll do better and they'll be honest with each other. They promised they'll stop sabotaging and hurting the other. They were supposed to last forever.
Hyunjin could only scream until he felt his throat give out, until his tendons hurt from the pressure his chest put on them. He thrashed his legs around the car, his entire body shaking out of anger as he continued shifting aggressively. He'll never forgive Jisung, he'll make sure to never hear from him ever again. This was the last drop for Hyunjin. No more pain, betrayal and foxes. No more Han Jisung. He'll cut him out of his life once and for all, like he wanted multiple times before, but somehow always found himself coming back to him.
