Ivan and Carson had been best friends since they were eight years old. They first met on the playground during recess.
"Hey, you wanna play tag with us?" said 8 year old Carson.
" Sure, I love tag!"
"My name's Carson, what's yours?"
"I'm Ivan. Nice to meet you."
They spent the rest of recess playing tag and quickly became inseparable.Fast forward ten years later, they are now juniors in high school and still the best of friends. They were sitting in the school cafeteria during lunchtime, talking about their plans for the weekend.
"Dude, did you hear about that new arcade that opened up downtown?"
"No way, that sounds fucking awesome! We should definitely check it out."
"For sure, we'll make a whole day out of it."
"I can't believe we've been friends for over ten years now..."
"Yeah, it's crazy to think about. Remember when we used to play tag at recess?"
"Haha, of course I do. You were always so fast, I could never catch you."
"And you were always the first one to get tired and give up."
"Hey, I just needed a break. You were too fast for me."
(Carson Laughs)
"You know... I'm really grateful that we've been friends for so long..."
" Me too, man. You've been there for me through everything, and I couldn't ask for a better friend."
"Same here, buddy. You're like.. a brother to me.."
(Ivan smiling)
"Aw, that's so sweet."
(Carson laughing)
" Alright man, Don't get too emotional on me now"
(Ivan laughs)
"Shut up, you know you love it."
Their friendship had grown stronger over the years, and they knew that no matter what happened, they would always be there for each other. They finished their lunch and made plans to go to the arcade that weekend, excited to spend another day together as best friends.
" I love hanging out with you." said Ivan
" I love hanging out with you too." replied Carson
They both smiled at each other before going their own ways. Carson did have fun hanging out with Ivan, but he had more fun and affection with him then he usually had. He entered his home, went into his bed room and just started thinking about everything going in his life. His parents were assholes, they were always fighting so he would spend most of his time outside to get away from his lunatic parents.
----
As he thought about everything he realized something was off, and why he felt more affection towards Ivan when they were always together. He didn't know yet, but lately, Carson had been feeling something more for Ivan. He couldn't deny it any longer. He was attracted to his best friend. When Ivan got together with Riley, Carson didn't like it at all. He couldn't explain why, but it just didn't sit right with him. But when Ivan and Riley broke up, Carson began to realize that his feelings for Ivan might be more than just friendship. He tried to brush off his thoughts, thinking that he couldn't possibly be gay for Ivan. But the more he thought about it, the more he couldn't deny his feelings. He wanted to tell Ivan about it, but he was scared of ruining their friendship.
Carson didn't know what to do. He wanted to be honest with Ivan, but he didn't want to risk losing his best friend. So he kept his feelings to himself, hoping that they would go away on their own. But every time he saw Ivan, his heart would skip a beat. He knew that he couldn't deny his feelings forever, but he just didn't know how to tell Ivan. For now, Carson decided to focus on being the best friend he could be to Ivan, hoping that one day he would find the courage to tell him how he really felt.
