It was the day of the junior year baseball championship game, and Carson, Ivan, and Cole were feeling the pressure. They had been working towards this moment for months, practicing every day after school and on weekends. Riley, Cole's girlfriend, was there to cheer them on, along with a group of their friends.
As the game progressed, the tension grew. The score was tied at 5-5, and it was the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs. Carson was up to bat, and he could feel the weight of his team's hopes on his shoulders. He took a deep breath, focused, and swung his bat with all his might. The ball flew high and far, soaring over the fence and landing with a resounding thud on the other side. Carson had hit a home run, securing the championship for their team.
The crowd erupted into cheers as Carson ran around the bases, high-fiving his teammates as he went. Ivan and Cole were waiting for him at home plate, and as Carson crossed the final line, they both lifted him up in a bear hug.
Riley was ecstatic, jumping up and down and screaming with joy.
"That was amazing, Carson! You did it!" she exclaimed, giving him a tight hug. "I knew you guys could do it."
As they made their way back to the dugout, Carson and Ivan shared a knowing look. They had been dancing around their feelings for each other for months, but now, with the excitement of the game and the adrenaline still pumping through their veins, they both knew it was time to make a move.
"Hey, Cole, can you give us a sec?" Ivan asked, glancing over at his boyfriend.
Cole nodded, sensing that something was about to happen.
"Yeah, sure. I'll catch up with you guys later."
As soon as they were alone, Ivan turned to Carson and took a deep breath. "Carson, I know we've been avoiding this for a long time, but I can't wait any longer. I love you, man, even if I told you this before, but I cannot help with all the feelings I feel towards you right now."
Carson's heart skipped a beat. He had been hoping for this moment for so long. "I love you too, Ivan," he said, smiling widely.
Ivan leaned in and kissed Carson, and it was like the whole world fell away. They were lost in the moment, feeling like nothing else mattered.
When they finally pulled away, they saw that Riley had been watching them. She was smiling, tears in her eyes.
"I'm so happy for you guys," she said, giving them each a hug.
They spent the rest of the night celebrating their victory and their newfound love. As they walked out of the stadium, arm in arm, Ivan turned to Carson and whispered, "I can't believe we're finally together."
Carson grinned. "Me neither. It feels like we've been waiting forever."
They shared a kiss, and then turned to see Riley and Cole walking towards them. "Hey, you two lovebirds," Cole teased, grinning. "Ready to party?"
Carson and Ivan looked at each other, feeling like they were on top of the world. With their best friends by their side, they knew they could handle anything that life threw their way.
