I stared at my family, watching them interact with each other put me at such ease. My wife sat at our kitchen table with our daughter in her lap, coloring in a book with our son. Jett was playfully tugging at her mother's hair, and Madden let out a smile every now and then, letting his mother do all the talking.
My wife had to be the most beautiful woman I had ever laid my eyes on, and I couldn't stop staring at her no matter how hard I tried. She was amazing. I couldn't believe this was my life now. I had finally gotten my girl, was living the life, and had two kids that I wouldn't trade for the world.
It saddened me, though, watching them get older. It happened too fast. Madden would be turning five in May, and Jett would be turning three soon after that. Where had the years gone? Soon they would be too old to care about me, and all of the years where they had been my babies would be gone. I always made fun of my parents for saying this about me, but here I was now, the same shit happening to me.
My wife glanced up at me and smiled. She was so pretty. So stunning. No words in the dictionary would be accurate enough to describe how beautiful she was.
I held her eyes, but didn't smile back. Her smile dropped, and her green eyes darkened, an unspoken understanding passing between us.
She stood up from the table with Jett in her arms and gently sat her down in the chair she was just occupying. Jett started coloring in her place as she walked over to me, a glint of mischief in her eyes.
Once she reached me her arms wrapped around my neck and pulled me closer to her, our noses nearly touching. "Why are you looking at me like that Mr. Mori?"
I shivered and put my hands on her hips. "I was thinking..."
Her eyebrow raised as she waited for me to continue.
"I was thinking that Jett and Madden are getting really big."
"And?"
"And I was thinking... three kids wouldn't be that much work, don't you think?"
She giggled and then lowered her voice, raising her lips to my ear. "Are you gonna put another baby in me Mr. Mori? Does watching me color with our kids turn you on?"
What a little tease. I growled and lifted her into my arms. She squealed and wrapped her legs around my waist as I started carrying her towards the stairs.
"Mommy you didn't finish your color page." Madden called out after us.
"She'll finish it later, I want five pages done from you two by the time we come back downstairs." My wife giggled some more as I climbed step by step.
I heard Madden gasp. "Jett, hurry!"
"You're so naughty." She tugged on my ear lobe as I nearly kicked down our door.
Only for you.
