Nowhere does it say,
The world is an endless game,
Time turns as the tide,
It's the gale I despise. In the morning afterlight,
Do I see the wreckage shine;Piles of ruin and of carnage,
"Brought by time," say the wise.
And past it,
A new gleaming city full of lonliness and heraeth. It gets worse each time another city is buried,
No longer do people understand,
What it's like to be married. Not by rings or untruth promises,
But by heart and soul that a couple promises.I have lived a million lives,
Drank it away most of the time,
Cursed I was in gallows deep,
Life was not kind to me.I wished for a home I never had,
Remembered a time I never could have,
Dreamt of a dream not like my life,
And all I saw were pretty lies.Time is less but it is vast,
No one knows the pain if it lasts. When the days and nights go in sync,
The months and years pass by in a blink.Mellowed wine and sour grapes,
Could not settle the pain of days.I watched their beauty fade,
Age settling in like melted lakes,
Once a proud youthful smile,
Turned into a frown,
Bitter and foul. The wrinkles; they change the face,
Where there was once glory now there's lace. How will you cover up those gnarly folds?
Why would you?
You lived long enough to earn those.Under each is a story to tell,
Or something you would not like to remember well. They say to grow old is a blessing,
But to lose all you ever loved,
It's a curse, that is, living.Creak and moan like rusty doors,
Wither away like grains of oat,
It's better to die first,
Than to be the last to go.
