Time of Death [ 4.8 ]
Isolation was Nova's best talent. If she wanted to ignore people and shut herself out, not only would she be good at it but she'd do it for a long time. She'd always been really good at that– ignore what's going on in the real world. It was a bad habit and one that she herself often disliked but when it came time to needing it, Nova would hide from the world with ease.
Days had passed since the likes of her friends and boyfriend had heard from her, the only time they heard about the girl was through her father– the only person she'd actually been communicating with.
In the days that followed her abduction and torture, Nova still hadn't found a way to cope. They say that coping is a process, she just hadn't found the time to do so. The ancestors wanted her– wanted more than just wanting to cause harm, they wanted to take a piece from her. She knew there was more to it.
Recalling that day is difficult as her mind kept wandering to how if she hadn't been saved, would she still be here. Who were her two mystery saviors and why did they protect her?
So many questions left her spending her time spiraling for answers. Reading, researching and spending every minute possible to reach any answers.
Despite her father expressing his concerns about her mental state she took none of it. She had been in the middle of reading another book when the sudden knock against the door frame caught her attention.
Grayson smiled, "Hey." He stepped foot into the room, "You busy?"
"Uhmm..." She trailed off but ultimately found no excuse to give.
He took a seat at the edge of her bed, "Good." He then patted the seat next to him, she obliged taking the spot next to him. He was quiet for a moment, before he spoke up, "So have you heard about the crazy plan your lunatic best friends made."
Nova nodded, "Yeah...I was surprised to hear Scott came up with some of the idea." She joked though she didn't smile, "Are you going back to the hospital today?"
He nodded, "Yeah, but I wanted to talk to you first."
"I'm fine." She responded quickly.
"You haven't told me about that day, not that I even really expected it."
"Well I haven't talked to anyone about it so..."
He cut her off, "You haven't talked to anyone at all really." He called her out.
She fell silent, released a sigh as she sat there with tears brimming her eyes, "What am I supposed to say?"
He smiled sadly, "Just say...hi." He shrugged, "So many people love you, and theyr'e all just waiting for you to say anything you want to them."
Before any more words could be spoken between them, the pager on his side went off alerting him that he was being called in. He looked back down at his daughter with an expression that read she wouldn't like what he was going to say.
