KYLE'S POV:
As we begin approaching the clubhouse, we can see many supporting families waiting. We turn the corner and see our coach, Gary, talking to the referee and the two sideline officials with the other coach, our opposition sits down on the grass and watches myself and Liam walk by, staring...observing.
We enter our change rooms and see our whole team, minus the goalkeeper, getting padded up, putting socks on and taping/strapping minor injuries. They all look a little worried and also a little nervous.
"Hey boys, how are we today?" I asked trying to get a smile out of them.
"Good as Gold!" Four of them yell back. I should mention, our jersey's are Gold and Blue, and our team-spirit Moto is "good as gold," it helps liven up our confidence and skills.
COACH GARY'S POV:
As I walk into the dressing rooms, I see my team, the best team ever to play, getting pumped up and dressed up for this big game today. All players had arrived and looked up to see my smiling.
"What's up coach?" I hear Zac, one of my best players ask.
"Nah, I am just so proud of all you boys," I reply with a massive smile now all the way across my face, "you boys had never once backed down from a challenge, never gave up and always fought your hardest to come out on top and look where we are now...preparing ourselves for the biggest grand final of our lives."
Not only was this a massive step for the team as one, and myself as a coach, but we had two of the most professional college scouts from England looking out for our top 3 competitors of this match, to earn themselves a scholarship to A major football college on the other side of the world. I have 5 players I think have the most chances of making it and it will be sad to see only 3 of the 5 players hit the big time so soon. I have a feeling Kyle, Zac, Jordan, Corey and possibly Liam will make it. I hope they all play to their full potential.
LIAM'S POV:
I don't know how to describe this feeling, but I have so many mixed emotions bubbling in my mind and body... Excitement, nervousness and so many more my mind can't even put them together to make a word.
This is a huge game, and I hope I am one of the few players good enough for that scholarship. Not long till kick off now!
KYLE'S POV:
"Since you had to travel the longer distance, call heads or tails in the air," the referee notifies to me.
He flips the coin and as it starts descending from the air, I call "Heads," and as it hits his hand he soon reveals the answer.
"Heads it is, which way would you like to go?" He asks, a little impatiently.
"We'll go uphill, that way, first."
"Alright, swap sides and Golds kick-off," he says while both teams start intercepting each other to swap halves of the field.
Just before the Whistle gets blown, I study their goalkeeper, and notice how his jersey is a darker red, more like maroon, compared to his team's bright and fiery red colours. He's pretty tall, so shouldn't be expecting a few shots along the ground.
LIAM'S POV:
I slowly breathe in, and then exhale while taking in the oppositions formation, I look over to our coach who is confidently standing up, showing his pride for our team. I turn back to face the game and start to smile, the grand final is here.
Suddenly, the whistle is blown.
We're underway! Straight away they tap off and pass back to the midfielders who lay it off for the defenders, our team presses up to jockey and pressure them. They get a kick away and it flies miles down the field, myself and the backline rush back to retrieve it.
We pass back to the keeper, who just hammers it down field.
Now it's up to Kyle and the boys to take a shot at finishing off our 'play.' Which wasn't really anything tactical, just boot it down field. It's only Been 2 minutes, but I feel a long game coming on..
AN: sorry again, it has taken me awhile to update, but am very interested in finishing this story. It has lots to come and very interesting and entertaining things to happen shortly.
