9:56 AM

Nolan stared at the blank document before him.
Feeling a sense of dread wash over him, he sighed and leaned back in his chair, rubbing his tired eyes.

Nolan had been working on this novel for months, but now he couldn't seem to find the words to continue. The cursor blinked mockingly at him, daring him to start typing something, anything.

He tried taking a break and coming back to it later, but that only made things worse. The longer he went without writing, the more anxious he became. He felt like he was letting himself down, and his readers too.

Then he remembered the coffee shop that Curaline recommended to him, he mentally facepalmed himself as he closed his laptop, put it in his bag and headed to the coffee shop.

It was about half past ten when Nolan arrived at the coffee shop. Leaving his car, he walked to the entrance.

As Nolan Stepped into the coffee shop, he was immediately hit with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The sound of chatter and clinking cups filled his ears as he surveyed the cosy space.

Nolan made his way to the counter to order, his eyes landing on a boy with brown hair reading a book.

The barista seemed lost in his book, he didn't notice Nolan walk up to the counter, so the older man tried to get his attention.
Nolan tapped the counter, and said,
''Uhm.. excuse me, hello?..''

This got the worker's attention.
The boy looked up from his book, revealing a pair of bright blue eyes. He smiled at Nolan, the brunette took out a notepad and quickly wrote down;
[Hello, welcome to 'The Parable'. What may I get for you today?]

''Oh, are you mute? I know BSL.'' Nolan asked him, the younger man not expecting that question.

The man behind the counter blushed, he quickly scribbled something on his notepad and showed it to Nolan;
[Sorry, only know ASL.]

The older man smiled,
''That's fine, I do know a bit of ASL too, don't worry,'' Nolan replied to him.

[Nice.] The brunette signed back, seeming to blush a little.

Nolan noticed a nametag on the man's shirt which read ''Stanley.''
''Ah, so that's his name, Stanley..'' Nolan thought to himself, ''What a beautiful name..''

It was quiet for a few seconds until the older man interrupted the silence by asking Stanley;
''What's that you're reading?'' He gestured to the book Stanley was reading previously, which was now laying on the counter beside them.

Stanley perked up and signed;
[Oh, That's ''Yellow Zone'', that book was written by ''The Narrator.] He signed,
[He's one of my favourite authors! I haven't finished the book so far, but I know it'll be one of my favourites, plus I heard that he's working on a sequel!].

Nolan's eyes widened as he realised that Stanley was talking about himself and his novel.
The older man blushed a bit and replied, ''Oh wow, it seems you really like that Narrator person huh..''

Stanley's eyes glistened and replied;

[Yeah, I heard he is very kind in person too!]
This made ''The Narrator'' blush ever brighter. He had never heard such kind words from a fan before, and the best thing was that he heard it from him.

[Also what would you like to order?] Stanley suddenly asked him.
Nolan snapped out of his trance and responded, ''Oh right! I-Uhm.. I'd like a latte, please..''
