The night passed by quietly and, between them, the atmosphere didn't feel too awkward when they cooked and baked Jimin's chocolate cake. They ate in tranquillity and spoke about nothing in particular, but Jimin didn't fall asleep with his legs on Yoongi's lap after dinner.

The morning after, Yoongi woke up early as usual, his head a bit heavy and his eyes puffy as he went to prepare breakfast, but he found Jimin already in the kitchen.

He was dressed and he had made coffee for two.

"Hi hyung"

Jimin looked at him with a smile as soon as he noticed him, but then he turned around to grab his jacket and a small bag he had put on the floor beside the entrance door.

"I'm sorry, I know I had told you I would have been home today but Tae texted me and we have agreed on spending the day together"

Yoongi observed as he fixed his messy hair and checked the time on his phone, but he didn't say anything. He stayed frozen on the spot as he felt his chest tighten more with every passing second.
"I don't think I'll come back tonight either. We are probably going somewhere and..." Jimin looked up at him before continuing and he gulped, his eyes wide.

Yoongi took a step closer and played with his fingers as Jimin sighed and scratched the back of his head.

That shouldn't have been that awkward.

It was never awkward between them. Whatever happened to them they were always okay right after, always at ease, always safe.

But now it felt like the distance between them was growing wider every second.

Yoongi nodded, even though he felt his legs becoming jelly and his mind spinning.

Jimin looked at him one last time before opening the door and leaving their house.

Yoongi spent sunday alone working on his song, then on monday he went to class.

He wasn't expecting Jimin to come back in the evening, but he was surprised when he didn't come back early in the morning on monday either. He actually did that some times when he stayed at his friend's apartment, then in the morning he went straight to class from there.

Yoongi wasn't worried. Taehyung and Jimin were very close after all, he was safe with him.

At the same time, though, he couldn't lie and say that it didn't hurt him not seeing him first thing in the morning.

It always hurt him to not have Jimin around. To not hear him sing in the shower, to not have him walking around and leaving his things everywhere, to not seeing him being happy in their house.

Jimin had looked uncomfortable and sad after their weird moment on the couch and Yoongi would have wanted to say something to him, but he was just too scared to bring the whole situation up. He was too scared to ask Jimin what was bothering him, also because, after some minutes, they had both acted like nothing had happened and they had gone on with their evening.

At least, that was what could look like to someone who didn't know them, because, for Yoongi, everything had felt different.

Maybe Jimin had felt too awkward to be around Yoongi even more, or maybe he just regretted ever getting so close to Yoongi and letting him touch his legs.

Yoongi had let himself hope for a moment and, like he had always feared, that had made him suffer.

He had felt disappointed, and he felt guilty for that.

Jimin didn't owe him anything and he had never been bold enough to even try to make a move, so it wasn't like Jimin could know how he felt, even if he supposed he sometimes was embarrassingly obvious about his crush for him.
