Chapter 1

Mori's POV
I looked at the small village with the most dull expression I could wear on my face. There was a lot of excitement in the gathering of houses, and so I strode over as slow as I could go in a kimono.
My kimono flowed softly and my silver-white hair was dangling low, the scar on my cheek was mostly covered by hair, but the scar still stuck out against my pale skin.
It looked as though they-the villagers, were trying to get rid of a demon or something, so I took a step back. All the top-knot-haired men were glaring angrily at the black-haired girl tied up in the center. She looked confused and ticked off at the same time. Suddenly, I heard an outburst.
"Kikyo?!" or "No way!" or "She's been dead for over 50 years!" or "Is she a reincarnation?" Kikyo... I think I've heard that name before! Wasn't she a priestess or something? Legendary... Probably... I have no idea, maybe I'm wrong.
Then she got taken into a hut with the priestess and village head, Kaede. Her bonds were removed. I made my way deeper into the village by this time, and a young lady of the village took me in for dinner.
Her name was something like Suzuki. Maybe it was Yuriko though. Who knows?
She was very kind to me and had some sloppy porridge made. There was a bit of rice too, but I decided not to eat the precious rice that they had so little of. My family had always told me not to owe people things, especially humans. They were very greedy. Since I'm a cat demon, most of us are greedy, but my family was very, very, very, very selfless, especially my big brother... Oh... My family... My clan... How much it hurts to remember.
Back to the present now. I had slept over at the kind lady's house, though I woke up at three in the morning. A beautiful, kind, and fair cat demon as such like me should get more sleep than five hours!
Smelling a mutt, of course only after four more hours, I growled and walked outside, nearly transforming into my demon form when I saw him. Silver hair and golden eyes, yuck. Looks like that's my target.
"Ki-" The mutt began.
"Kagome!" Said the black-haired girl standing near him.
He growled angrily and seemed pissed off from her nonchalant attitude.
She was pretty brave to stand up to even a lowly half-demon. I chuckled, she should be my best friend. After thinking carefully, I walked up to them. My kimono flowed as usual, and I straightened my hair from its bed-head style.
"Hi there." I smiled at the girl named Kagome. The mutt was the one who I was still glaring at and I was about to stick my tongue out at him.
"Kagome," the mutt spat, "We have to keep moving."
"Hello!" The girl said, ignoring the mutt.
"Gee, thanks for the warm welcome." 'Mutt' spoke up.
"You're welcome," I murmured, to the dog demon, then to Kagome, "I'm Mori, you?" I asked, though I already knew her name.
"Kagome." She smiled.
"Inu-" The mutt began, feeling important.
I cut him off, "Yes I know you're a dog, 'Mutt'."
He looked shocked for a moment, and then disgusted with me, "You fe-"
"Sophisticated female." I finished, knowing he could've said I was a feline, then again, what would it have proved?
"Grr... You are a tricky and sly black cat, Mori."
He used my name!
"Wow, the mutt has manners, even if it's the bare minimum. Huh?" I noticed the head priestess or whatever she is. She looked old, maybe 60 or 70.
"You two, cut it out! It's like you're cats and dogs!" Kagome broke in.
I nearly said that we were, but restrained myself.
"Heh, yeah. Just like 'em." The mutt muttered. (haha 'mutt muttered'? )
Kaede, the old lady in a yukata, quickly snapped, "Be quiet Inuyasha."
Now I officially knew his name. Inuyasha. Sounds pretty lame. The first part of his name is for dog(inu), and the last part, well, probably stands for something like idiot. Hah, what an idiotic name that would be!
Kagome looked up and had seen something, maybe she had some business with that bird demon above? Perhaps it was the bird that had been carrying a child that I saw earlier. Why would she be running after the demon, though? She has... Dog idiot. Heheheh, anyways...
Woah! What is she wearing? Maybe I was wrong about her, dang it, why do I never notice the most obvious details first?

Kagome's POV
Mori, that girl, she is... How do you put it... She's like a sly fox, but quick to leap like a cat. There is something about her that is like Inuyasha, but maybe it's just their arguments.
There's something that she's hiding, but I mean, everyone hides things. It's human nature, unlike Inuyasha's nature.
He's so immature! All he does is cause trouble and raise arguments, totally unhelpful. Also, I'm not getting anywhere close to home! I wish I could just go home.
Stupid feudal era, stupid jewel, and idiot Inuyasha! Everything is failing me... I hope maybe I can be friends with Mori. She seems like fun!
Eh? Is that the bird demon up there? There's a child too!
