Satoshi's POV
I shook myself out of my daze and started running through the trees for the gravesite. She was probably still there! Otherwise she might be at my house! Excitement flooded through my body.
Finally reaching the gravesite, I saw her state of pain, and dashed off. I landed and walked towards her, it would be more comfortable this way.
I sat down beside her crumpled body. It was painful just to see her like this, and especially right after I got his newfound power.
Trying to comfort her, I patted her head and hugged her. It was hard not to cry, but I forced myself not to. She was crying and wailing for her family. Oh, how I wished I could just free her from this and bring back her family! But no, they just had to be dead, of course. It was very hard for me not to tell her about my power, but I nearly forgot it when she looked up at me.
Her face was a mess. I don't even want to describe it, my mind is already a mess. To make things worse, she was about to speak. Again.
Why can't she just go to sleep and end her pain for now? Well, I suppose she might dream about it too, but at least it's better than being in the real world. She is so precious to me that I don't even have any words that I can express my love for her with-it's almost just, there. As if it's love at first sight-maybe...
To fix her broken life is all I would ever dream of, and if staying far away from her would help, I'd do it. Even though my heart would be broken, she would be saved! I'd do anything for her.
"Satoshi... Take me to your house.........." Her voice was hoarse and shaky.
The worst part is, her voice was not as confident as it usually sounds. She sounded weak, helpless, and dejected.
Did something happen to her today? If someone hurt her, I'll kill them! How dare they hurt my precious Mori, who is so fragile? Well, I guess she's not that fragile, but still!
Picking her up princess-style, I carried her to my house. It was a rickety old thing, dilapidated and worn down. The house was wooden, and had a wooden roof as well. My house was rather different from the others, because I tried very hard to make it weather-proof. When I pushed the door open, a group of logs tied together to cover the whole in the wall, it fell over. Since I got my new powers, it was believable that I could toss that around all day, even with my stash inside.
My stash? Oh, that's all of my food. I store my food in my door, and it gets rather heavy. This is because a lot of it is meat, dirt, and bread. Mostly, I steal the bread from the nearby villages, but otherwise I make it. The meat is stolen as well, and I preserve it with fresh cool water and dirt every so often a day. I quickly learned from experience when to change the dirt and add water. When it's winter I use ice.
Setting her on my cloth bed, I covered her with a goat blanket. Many of my blankets were coats worn by travelers, but I stole them and tied them together. Stealing is a necessity of my everyday life. Except for her heart. Mori's heart. The one thing I have never, and probably never will steal.Mori's POV
"Oi... Knucklehead, get me some food!" I heard my voice crack as I yelled at Satoshi.
Watching him run around crazy was funny. He was just so weird. Liking a cat demon like me, making a shack like this, and using such weird ways to... What's it called? Ah! Preserve meat. Whenever I think about his strange reasons and ways of life, I crack up laughing. But not today.
Today I have to find a new makeshift home. There has never been a permanent home for me... Not even with Satoshi! Satoshi moves around far too much, although it's only once a year, but still. My home has been destroyed for a while now, and there's nothing I can do about it. Maybe I could... No, they already know I'm a demon. Only the Lord knows what they'll do to me if I go back.
I wish I could go home... Those were my last thoughts before I got my food.
It was cooked beef with a tad bit of rabbit stew. Oh gosh, it was good! I swear it was the best food I'd ever had! Let's just hope I don't get sick later.
Man, I feel sleepy. Maybe I'll get just a crack of sleep before I leave... Just a little bit... A nap...
Yeah, I'll rest a bit. It won't... Take too long... Just a few minutes of shut-eye and I'll leave again. Again... Where will I go? The camp? The village? The graves? The forest with all of the spirits? Oh I don't know! I just don't know! Thinking is tiring. Maybe I'll stop. I probably won't, though I may try...
I'll try... To sleep... Just... One... More... Step... Just.......... One.......... More........... Step.......... To......?
Where am I headed...?
'The heart of the world.' A small voice said.
That was all I heard before I fell asleep. My dream was horrible. Don't ask. Although I know you'll find out later, just don't tell Satoshi. He will freak if he knows I dreamed a bad dream-a nightmare.
I know Satoshi watched me fall asleep, because I felt tear drops on my face when I awoke. They weren't from my eyes, that's all I can say.
He's just too funny, really. Why doesn't he just say he loves me aloud. He is even crying for me. Am I that sad to look at?
Perhaps I am, but that doesn't mean HE has to cry for me.
I got up to leave his house, and I noticed he was gone. Shrugging, I left. Quickly making my way in the only direction I'd never been in before, I unknowingly traveled closer to Naraku's hideout. Suddenly, I felt a little prick on my neck, so I slapped it, knowing it was a bug. When I looked at it, I saw a mosquito demon. How... Different...? I guess?
Honestly, it was weird for me to think there were so many different types of demons that were bugs... I shivered, bugs...
Anyways, I was walking along the strange path that seemed to have just been blazed. It was a very fresh looking road, so I just guessed in my assumption and supposed so.
Then, I heard the bug speak.... Wait-he's still here?
"Have you seen Inuyasha-sama?" The little bug questioned with a hazel voice.
"How do you know Dog-idi-I mean-Inuyasha?"
I thought it quite strange for someone to actually ask about that idiot. Why should anyone care about him? He's a dope, an idiot, and a mutt. Mutts have no lives, I swear.
"Uhh... He's an old friend.... yeah..." Said the mosquito suspiciously.
"He's in the nearest village last I checked." I murmured.
The little bug thanked me and hopped off. It was really weird to talk to a bug..... Really weird.... No... I mean seriously........ Who would ever speak to a bug willingly? Not me!
Bugs are the most disgusting thing I have ever seen to live in existence. Why they were created... I don't know! Never ask me questions about creation and stuff like that! I'm not very bright in that way.
Anyways! Back to the wandering.... Uhm... I just saw a cave... Maybe it will have some hospitality for me? I doubt a cave has hospitality, but whatever. Okay, so... I'm up on the ledge, and I looked in, when suddenly, I felt immense lust. But not blood lust or bodily lust... It was more like a lust for power. As though the person was very weak, but wanted to protect something. It was rather weird, but not very friendly-looking. So, I didn't go in, but I waited for a few heartbeats to see if something would happen. Nothing did, but as I went to leave, I heard a voice call out through the silence that endeared me.
"Why are you still outside? Come in already!"
A woman.... At first, I actually hoped it was a man, but I suppose not everything will go the way I want it. Well, the power was coming from in there, and I surely didn't want to upset them. They seemed really strong. Walking in, I murmured quite loudly when I spoke.
"What is it that you want from me?"
"I don't need you, but you did come around my cave, so I guessed that you wanted something from me. Do you not?"
A male was speaking this time. How weird! I didn't sense the both of them! Why are they so strong?
"Oi! Answer him!" The female voice ordered crankily.
She's fierce. I grumbled a few silent words to myself and continued walking until I saw a light. The light was rather pretty.
"No... But I was wondering if I could stay here for a few nights...." I murmured hopelessly.
I sounded like a poor homeless person.
"I'll help you... But only on one condition; You must work for me." The male voice slyly said.
"What does this job entitle?" I questioned.----------------------------------------------
